A BLACK OPAL BROOCH set with a 9mm x 7.5mm x 3.9mm cabochon opal, surrounded with old cut diamonds. Length 6.2cm, weight 4.3gms Condition Report:"Is the opal from Australia? I have no 100% way of knowing this, I would assume so, as African opals haven't been a thing until recent years, (1994) and this brooch has some age to it, late Victorian to the 1st quarter of the 20th century. Opals from other areas are not really available easily, and certainly not as commercial as Australian. No chips or cracks to the opal, diamonds bright and clean, light general wear to the brooch. There are no hallmarks, it is bright yellow metal, we cannot test it."
