A WWI & WW2 Territorial Group of 5 awarded to Warrant Officer Class 2 Charles G. King, Royal Army Ordnance Corps, late 14th (London Scottish) Battalion, London Regiment and Labour Corps, comprising: British War and Victory Medals (514715 Pte. C. G. King. 14-Lond. R.); Defence and War Medals, 1939-1945; Efficiency Medal, G.VI.R, Territorial (7599698 WO2 C. G. King RAOC); WWI pair swing mounted on bar with brooch pin, remainder loose, about extremely fine (5. ) This lot offered with a cardboard display (medals formerly mounted) bearing a London Scottish white metal cap badge, three brass shoulder titles, WWI miniature pair and other pieces of small brass insignia. Also offered with his copied M.I.C. showing WWI service with the 14th Battalion London Regiment, and then with the Labour Corps, a common transfer, often the result of injuries, wounds or shellshock etc., although he does not appear to be entitled to an S.W.B.

A .577/ 450” Martini Henry Mark IV rifle cut down for use as a carbine, 37” overall, barrel 21”, the breech bearing ordnance proofs, broad arrow in “U”, government sale mark, etc, the frame marked with crown over “VR/ Enfield/ 1888/ 1-/2”, the stock with shortened fore end, the butt bearing faint serial number 5210. GWO & C (some wear, the stock heavily varnished).
A 17th century “lobster tail” helmet, the ribbed skull formed in two parts, with integral peak, one side of which bears an indistinct ordnance mark, probably of James II (1685-88), the one piece lobster tail having 4 simulated lames and decorated with incised lines and rows of domed rivets, with replacement nasal bar and ear flaps. GC for age (the skull with minor dents and several small holes). Plate 10
A good William IV .56” flintlock sea service belt pistol, 15½” overall, barrel 9” with faint ordnance proofs, the line engraved lock with inspector’s stamp and bearing crown over “WR”, walnut fullstock, the butt stamped with broad arrow over “BO” and ordnance inspector’s marks, regulation brass mounts, swivel ramrod, and replacement belt hook. VGWO & C, the barrel with original draw filed finish. See front cover
**A .303” Martini Enfield rifle, converted for the NRA by Greener, 46” overall, barrel 30” with B’ham nitro proofs, the frame marked with crown over “VR/ Enfield/ 1898/ ME 303/ACIII” and serial number N5711, the “ME” stamped over “MM” and the “AC” struck through, also stamped “Converted for the NRA by W W Greener”, the walnut stock, which appears to be converted from Martini Henry Mark IV, retaining traces of ordnance stamps on the butt and with regulation steel mounts, the bayonet lug removed from the top barrel band, with a webbing sling and modern leather rearsight cover. GWO & C (some old pitting to the barrel); with a sergeant’s stripping tool, pull through, and brass oil bottle. The vendor states that it shoots very well.

SMITH U.S. Navy fleet surgeon who accompanied the Perry Expedition to Japan, signature on a 2 1/2" x 8" purser's receipt, New York, June 1, 1857; CLAUDE MACDONALD (1852-1915) British diplomat, led the defense of the foreign legations under siege in Peking during the Boxer rebellion, signature on a 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" card, adding a salutation and the date "Peking 30 December 1899", laid down on a larger card; ARTHUR CUNYNGHAM (1812-1884) aide-de-camp to Lord Saltoun in China, present at the capture of Nanking during the First Opium War, signature cut from a letter, 1 1/2" x 4"; HENRY A.
