WW2 Home Front Royal Ordnance Factory Female Headdress, being of khaki cloth with large green triangular section to the front and elasticated back. Inside has the original tailors label with R-O-F Cap printed to the other side. Later collectors label also added. Accompanied by a 1948 Women’s Land Army green beret, stamped to the inside JALPOTEX 1948 7 and War Department stamp. Both items remain in good condition. (2 items)
A German Weimar or early Third Reich period ordnance issue NCO's sabel, imitation damascus blade 31½", the plain brass stirrup hilt having early Waffenamt marks on every piece, the underneath of the crosspiece stamped "AC/G", serial number 5315, and 2 waffenamt marks, with brass wire bound black composition grip, in its steel scabbard. GC (slight wear to blade and scabbard, originally fitted with fingerschlauf now missing). Plate 3
A German 6 shot 10.6mm Model 1883 single action ordnance revolver, 10" overall, barrel 4½" with octagonal breech; numbered 4080 on barrel and frame, frame stamped with crown over "Erfurt 1894"; with safety catch on left side, plain walnut grips and lanyard ring; the grip strap regimentally marked "74 A.r. 3.88". Good Working Order and Condition, dull grey finish overall with patches of light rust staining. Plate 20
A 1796 pattern officer's sword of Sir Hussey Vivian, KCB, Veteran of the Napoleonic Wars including Waterloo, straight, fullered blade 32½", etched blued and gilt for half length with trophies and florets, and on one side with crowned GR cypher, and on the other with the 1816-37 Royal Arms with supporters and motto, regulation gilt hilt, double shell guard with engraved panel on the inner side, the outer shell turning up, facetted knucklebow, engraved quillon, facetted urn pommel engraved on the top, simulated wirebound grip, in its leather (restored) scabbard with gilt locket, ring and frog stud, and chape, in shaped tin case with lid and clasp, and brass nameplate engraved "Hussey Vivian Esq (7th Light Dragoons)" Sword Very Good Condition, retaining approximately 85% original gilt finish overall. Plate 19 Note: Richard Hussey Vivian, born 1775, entered the Army in 1793. In 1804 appointed Lt Colonel in the 7th Light Dragoons; served in the Retreat from Corunna; severely wounded in the advance on Toulouse. As General Vivian at Waterloo he addressed the 18th Hussars and said "18th You will follow me" and the result on the cavalry and guns was most successful.Master General of Ordnance 1835-1841. Created Baron in 1841, died 1842. See "The Waterloo Roll Call" by Dalton for further details
A .75 modified 1796 pattern flintlock holster pistol to the 2nd Dragoon Guards, the barrel bearing ordnance proofs; earlier replacement lock with banana shaped plate having traces of crowned GR and "Vaughan 17.."; walnut fullstock; regulation brass mounts, the trigger guard engraved "2d D-Gs/D/34"; with original steel ramrod. WO & QGC (worn overall, jaw screw replaced). .
A carbine-bore (.65") Tower 1730 pattern Heavy Dragoon flintlock holster pistol, 18½" overall, barrel 12" with ordnance proofs; the rounded banana shaped lock having swan neck cock and unbridled frizzen, plate engraved with double line border, crowned 'GR' 'Tower 1729' and stamped with viewer's mark; dark walnut fullstock with apron around the breech tang, lock and sideplate, and bearing late 18th century ordnance storekeeper's mark; the heavy brass mounts include long spurred butt cap and wavy sideplate, and with original brass tipped ramrod. Good Working Order and basically Good Condition (top missing from comb of cock, with some damage and bruising to stock) Plate 20

GWO & C (small patches of rust staining to barrel, lock and ramrod, the cock replaced). Plate 5 .
A German 6 shot 10.6mm Model 1879 single action ordnance revolver, 13½" overall, barrel 7" with muzzle ring and octagonal breech; numbered 3891 on barrel and frame, frame dated 1882 and bearing oval cartouche of "F.V. Dreyse, Sommerda", with safety catch on left side; plain walnut grips, and steel butt cap with lanyard ring, butt cap regimentally engraved "6.R.A. 3.57" Good Working Order and Condition, with dark patina overall. Plate 20
An extremely fine .577" 1856 pattern rifled percussion cavalry pistol carbine, the pistol 15½" overall, barrel 10" with 5 groove rifling and two folding leaf rearsights, the breech bearing Tower proof and ordnance viewer's and inspector's marks; lock engraved with crowned 'VR' and '1857' over 'Tower', and with ordnance viewer's and inspector's marks; nicely figured walnut fullstock, the butt deeply stamped with broad arrow and'WD' and with inspector's marks, the left side with stock maker's and assembler's names "J Smith" and "Hollis & Sheath", with regulation brass mounts, swivel ramrod, and lanyard ring, the butt having elongated trigger guard and butt cap tang slotted to take the walnut carbine stock, which is deeply stamped with broad arrow and 'WD', large crown over 'VR', inspector's mark and "Hollis & Sheath" and fitted with sling swivel. Very Good Working Order and almost as made, retaining virtually all original finish. Plate 24 Note: these were made for the Yeomanry with approximately 1200 only issued.

GWO & C (top jaw and screw replaced, some light pitting to barrel, the stock very well patched below the lock) Plate 5 .
A .577/450" Martini Henry Mark IV service rifle, 49½" overall, barrel 33" with ordnance proofs, inspector's marks, and serial number 'B.22' at breech, also stamped 'C.S. 405' (Colonial Service ?); the frame marked with crown over "VR/ Enfield/1886/ IV/1", walnut fullstock, butt stamped "S.L/108" in circle (Sierra Leone), faint "E.S.A" and number '48'; with correct type steel cleaning rod. Good Working Order and clean Condition, retaining much original blued finish (small contemporary repair to heel of butt, some bruising to stock) Plate 24

A scarce .75" Tower modified 1796 pattern flintlock holster pistol to the Royal Dragoons, the barrel bearing Ordnance proofs; the slightly rounded double line engraved lock stamped with crowned GR and Tower; walnut fullstock stamped with clear ordnance store keeper's mark; regulation brass mounts, the trigger guard engraved "Royl.Dns./B/37", the sideplate stamped 1827; with original steel ramrod also engraved "D/37". WO & basically GC (the cock a poor replacement, dark russet finish to barrel with some pitting, the stock rather battered). .
