Three: Private W. E. Lynch, Army Ordnance Corps 1914 Star (S-7929 Pte. W. E. Lynch. A.O.C.); British War and Victory Medals (7929 Pte. W. E. Lynch. A.O.C.) good very fine (3) £70-£90 --- W. E. Lynch attested for the Army Ordnance Corps and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 29 October 1914. He subsequently transferred to the Army Service Corps.
London Small Arms Lee Speed .303 bolt action rifle, serial number 2893R, converted by B.S.A. from a military Long Lee Enfield, some parts still bearing ordnance marks, 25inch barrel fitted with one fixed leaf, four folding leaves and a ladder sight, Birmingham proof marks, the receiver stamped with Lee Speed Patents and fitted with a magazine cut off catch, five round box magazine, the wrist joint stamped L.S.A. L.E.I, figured chequered stock with pistol grip and steel butt plate with sprung trap.UK FIREARMS LICENCE WITH .303 RIFLE VARIATION OR RFD REQUIRED. 115cm long Lot 289: The rifle is in fair general condition and is nice a presentable but still showing signs of age and wear. The bore is reasonable with a decent pattern that is starting to soften around the edges from wear. There are no signs of pitting or damage. The metal finish has worn through in several places mainly around the action but there is still plenty of blue on the barrel. There are some minor dents to the foresight bed almost as if someone has tried to tighten up the foresight fitting by hammering it. The action works correctly and positively, there is a minor primer pocket mark. The stock has a chip to the forend on the bolt side at the thinnest part where it meets the barrel. The chequering has been recut. There are no other splits or damages to the woodwork, there are however lots of dents scratches and marks. The forend is a little loose in its fitting.

A 20th Century two-part plans chest Together with copious boundary and shipping plans. 90cm tall x 91cm deep x 121cm wide.This chest with attractive cast iron handles has six drawers, including a deep bottom drawer. It is in two parts. The division can be seen at the fourth drawer down. This cutting may have been done later. It has an estate-made look. The top is fabric-covered pine; there is a notice pinned to the top.It contains approx 120 Cornish ordnance survey maps 1907 and later.

1807 dated letter, autographed by Cuthbert Collingwood, 1st Baron Collingwood (1748 - 1810).Dating from March 12th 1807 and signed ‘Collingwood’, the letter relates to the exportation of tobacco from Brazil, and the loss of an ordnance ship to the Spanish.Collingwood is incredulous regarding the ships loss, noting ‘It is a misfortunes of the most serous kind - I think they must have been either mad or drunk for on that night, though it blew hard - the wind was off shore’.Vice Admiral Cuthbert Collingwood’s Naval career began at the age of 12, volunteering to serve on HMS Shannon.He went on to serve in the American Revolutionary Wars, the French Revolutionary Wars, the Anglo-Spanish War, and the Napoleonic War.Collingwood notably served at Trafalgar, commanding one line of ships in the fleet, and Nelson commanding the other.Lord Collingwood died on board HMS Ville de Paris as he sailed for England on March 7th 1810, and was interred beside Nelson in the crypt at St Paul’s Cathedral.Approximately 37.6cm x 23.5cm.Good condition, minor foxing in places to the paper.
