AMENDED DESCRIPTIONA 19th century Coast Guard percussion pistol, inscribed on the lock is a 'Crown Motif' over 'WR', a 'Crown Motif' over an arrow (Enfield) and 'ENFIELD' at the back. On the stock there is a Board of Ordnance mark, the 15cm barrel with various proof marks, safety bolt is fitted behind the hammer's pivot screw. Walnut stock and brass furniture. 17mm carbine bore

Paris, 1826 … photozincographed [ie. reproduced] Southampton at Ordnance Survey, 1878. 112 x 155 cms. plus an additional fold out section at bottom right corner, 9 more detailed local maps in insets at left side, bold hill shading to show mountains. Folding and contained in original printed envelope. Apparently used as the basis for an international treaty. Very striking map.

Crowned VR cypher over "Tower 1844". Percussion hammer with line edge engraving. Polished, full stock woodwork. The grip drilled for securing cord. Brass butt cap with steel lanyard ring. Brass trigger guard, ramrod pie and end cap. Steel belt hook and lower swivel ramrod.

Brass, triple bar guard and single long bar. Shaped pommel. Leather covered, ribbed grip with twist wire binding.

Right hip with open top patch pocket secured by single button. Ankles with button secured tightening strap. Rear seat opening flap. Issue label "ROF Overall" dated 1943. Clean condition.

The World War Two Campaign Medals awarded to Captain George Bernard Taylor Royal Army Ordnance Corps who was evacuated from the Beaches at Dunkirk and who spent the rest of the War serving in a Bomb Disposal Unti being wounded in the back in Burma, comprising 1939-45 Star, Africa Star, Burma Star, 1939-45 Defence Medal, 1939-45 War Medal unnamed as issued. Very fine (5)George Bernard Taylor, was born on the 3rd of March 1913, he grew up in Worthing and before World War Two worked for the Ford Motor Company. He dated the actress Googie Withers!!. He had joined the Territorial Army before the War and volunteered before it started for the Royal Navy and also the Royal Air Force, but eventually joined the Army - soon promoted to Corporal. He was given a Commission on the 22nd of August 1942. Taylor was a member of the B.E.F. in 1940 and had advanced as far as the Belgian Border but had “Met everyone coming back” so had to retreat. He was evacuated from Dunkirk . His Wife and unborn child were Killed in a Bombing Raid during The Blitz. He was posted after Commissioning to Africa then to Burma where he was wounded in the back during the Campaign, which rendered him bed-ridden in later life. He finished the war holding the rank of Captain. Known as “Gee” to his family and friends he Died aged 99 years on the 20th of March 2012. Sold with original Box of Issue (flattened) and (tatty) Bestowal Slip, typed Obituary and two copy photographs.

A Late 18th Century Flintlock Brown Bess Type Musket by Ezekiel Baker of London, .750 calibre, the 97cm round steel barrel with London Board of Ordnance markings, signed lock plate, walnut full stock with chequered grip and fore-end, brass fore-end tip, ramrod pipes, trigger guard and side plate, with two steel sling swivels and ramrod, 138cmAction works, holds at full and half cock. Deep pitting to barrel. Bruising to stock with wax filler to crack in front of the lock plate. Small sliver of wood missing to stock along the right side of barrel.
Great Seal of James II in brown wax, attached with braided metal thread ribbon, 15cm diameter, losseswrapped in a later paper note ink inscribed: Sir Wm Trumbull Ambassador at Paris & Constantinople From 1685 to 1690together with fragments of another seal Ombersley Court, Worcestershire Sir William Trumbull (1639–1716) was considered by Charles II as a possible Secretary of State, but he was eventually offered the office of Secretary of War in Ireland, which he turned down. Nevertheless, he was knighted in 1684, and in 1685 was made Clerk of the Deliveries of the Ordnance. Through the favour of the Trelawny family, he entered Parliament as MP for the Cornish borough of East Looe 1685–1687. Charles II died a few days later and Trumbull had to relinquish the clerkship when he was sent by James II, against his own wishes, as envoy extraordinary to France. Trumbull was a friend of both John Dryden and Alexander Pope. Trumbull was the great-grandfather of Mary, Marchioness of Downshire and Baroness Sandys.
