Along with WW2 British Medal Group of 1939-45 Star, Africa Star, Italy Star, Defence Medal and British War Medal all mounted on a bar in along with ribbon bar and a set of boxed miniatures of the same plus some paperwork and a Trench Art paper knife in the form of a Sword.
A .577 OBSOLETE CALIBRE NEW ZEALAND SHORT RIFLE, 30.75inch sighted barrel fitted with ramp and ladder rear sights, various Ordnance stamps but principally marked to the breech NZ over 88 over 8, this repeated behind the barrel tang on the stock, border engraved lock stamped with a crown over VR at the tail and dated 1860, full stocked with regulation brass mounts, steel cleaning rod. Breech cut to the underside.
A SCOTTISH REGIMENTAL PIPER'S DIRK, 30.5cm blade with faceted back edge, etched with scrolling foliage and a maker's panel for Robert Mole, various Ordnance stamps dating it to 1900 and 1905, characteristic white metal mounted wooden hilt, the collar engraved R.H.D and R.W.G. 20., crown pommel, carved basket weave wooden grip set with white metal studs, contained in its steel mounted leather wrapped wooden scabbard with a single Ordnance stamp dating it to 1900.
A French 11mm Mle 1866-75 Gras bolt action SS rifle, 52” overall, barrel 32½”, number 17268, the breech dated 1871, the action stamped “St Etienne Mle 1866-74”, dark walnut fullstock, the butt with clear ordnance stamp for August 1879, with steel mounts, sling swivels and original steel cleaning rod. GWO & basically GC (the metalwork with surface rust overall and some pitting, the barrel band locking springs missing); with its bayonet, dated 1877, in non matching scabbard, basically GC (worn with surface rust overall).
A massive heavy flintlock punt gun or wall piece, 79” overall, barrel 62” with small bead fore sight, the breech struck with Tower private proofs; line engraved military lock secured by single sidenail, woodscrew through the front end, with swan neck cock, the plate engraved with crowned “GR” and”Tower” and struck with ordnance lock viewer’s mark; the walnut fullstock with simple sheet iron trigger guard. GWO & basically GC (barrel lightly pitted overall, the butt with much old woodworm resulting in the loss of some material, the upper part of the fore end replaced). Plate 9
A .56” Tower percussion Sea Service pistol, first type, 11½” overall, barrel 6” with Tower proofs and ordnance inspector’s marks; the flat stepped lock engraved with crown over “VR” and “Tower 1842”; walnut fullstock with broad arrow over “BO” mark, regulation brass mounts, lanyard ring, swivel ramrod, and 5” steel belt hook. GWO & basically GC (lock and barrel polished bright over some pitting, stock slightly bruised and worn, the belt hook a replacement) Plate 11
