* Matrimonial Ladder. Humorous progression of the ritual of Courtship and Marriage illustrated on a Cardboard Ladder, pub. R.Miller, 24 Old Fish Street, St. Pauls, c.1850, uncoloured eng. illustrations of a man and a woman, with text on each ‘rung’, describing the progression of a romance, and then the subsequent decline of the marriage, printed on both sides, secured at the top of the ladder with two blue silk ribbon ties, two small folds, overall dimensions 155 x 65 mm. A charming piece of Victorian ephemera, which unusually for its time documents a marriage ending in divorce. (1)

A Fine & Amusing Collection of Austrian Cold Painted Bronze Novelty Pigs; a group of three imbibing at a picnic table bearing a platter of bread & sausage with a lamp-post and litter basket to one side, a fellow porcine imbiber raising a glass & bottle labelled 'Prosit!' with a spotted toadstool at his foot, a smaller companion holding a toadstool, and a chimney sweep with ladder & brush over his shoulder. Also a pig serving a heart on a platter, another with four leaved clover in his mouth, and a wild boar.
A Silver Plated Novelty Lighter in the form of a man with removable cap & wick extending from his mouth, leant with one foot resting on a ladder and having a drum cigarette holder to one side and top hat match holder to the other, mounted on a black marble plinth base, 8 ins (20 cms) in height, 7½ins x 3½ ins (19 cms x 9 cms).
