The bore has not been cleaned out properly since it was last shot and a well oiled rag returns dirty black / dark brown. Using a bore light the bore looks good in most areas but there looks like there could be very light surface pitting around mid bore however this might be dirt that can be cleaned up with wire brush. The bore has now been sprayed with a light protective gun oil. The nipple and surrounding area all look ok without serious problems. The gun has had some sights mounted to the stock which have now been removed and plugged with wood pegs.

Light pitting to the metalwork. The action works correctly but there is a strange colouring to the breech block. Some of the screw heads around the rifle are chewed. There is a ring missing from the front of the trigger guard which would have kept the firing pin cover and chain attached to the rifle. The bore has strong rifling but has light pitting throughout.

The bore has some light patches of pitting but all rifling remains present. The foresight has been replaced. The dovetailed rear sight has been knocked over to one side, this can be easily corrected. The action body has some light scratches which run across both sides. This looks to be from manufacture as they are present underneath the traces of bluing which remain. The slot in the top of the magazine tube is slightly chewed. The stock has been refinished. There is a chip to the right side of the stock where it meets the action and there has been a repaired split to the forend. The woodwork has some fresh dents and scratches.

There is filler and a glue repair to the toe of the butt. The butt plate is very dented and worn. Some pitting in places mainly inside the breech. The action works correctly but the firing pin plunger is missing and been replaced with a percussion nipple. One screw to the breech block has been replaced. There is a ring missing from the front of the trigger guard which would have kept the firing pin cover and chain attached to the rifle. Ramrod is a replacement. The bore has rifling but has heavy pitting throughout.

The trigger guard bow is slightly distorted. Light pitting to the metalwork. The action works correctly. There is a ring missing from the front of the trigger guard which would have kept the firing pin cover and chain attached to the rifle. There is also a vacant hole in the stock for which the rear sight cover would have been attached to. The bore has rifling but has heavy pitting throughout.

The action works correctly. The bluing is fading in areas and there is light pitting to the polished parts. The stock has the usual assortment of knocks scratches and marks typical of a working life. There is one dent/scratch to the tip of the left side of the forend which needs some attention in order for the gun to look its best. The bore has strong rifling present but a patch of pitting mid way which might improve with cleaning.
