A matched pair of Japanese carved ivory tusk figures, late Meiji periodThe first carved with immortal figures and dragons, stained with diaper work designs, 33cm high, signed, together with another carved with a series of figures climbing a tree, red lacquered signature plaque to base, 38cm high. (2) CONDITION REPORT: Okimono - figures and dragons - small nibbles to the edge of the ivory throughout. Small crack to the dragon head. Okimono appears to have been restuck to the base. Overall yellowing to the ivory. Okimono - figures in trees - Large crack to the ladder, approx 6cm in length. Several further cracks to the group, mainly visable on the figures. Significant yellowing throughout. Okimono has been restuck to the base.
