A replica of one of the Open Air Museum traditional Sussex thatched farmhouse, with plenty going on outside- boy with cat and kittens, girl with rabbit, Bee hives, water pump, ladder, dove cot, chicken, lady with lamb, girl on stool, boy with tortoise, man on horse, Policeman figure, oxcart with animal and figures, gig with passengers and horse, hedging, kissing-gate, pond with swans, frog and heron, etc. A good display. Ca. 1400 - 1300 BCAn elegant wheel-thrown Mycenaean pottery jar known as a pithos with a petite discoid base which gradually expands into an inverted piriform body with a sloped shoulder and a squat neck. The jar has a trio of applied loop handles spaced equidistantly around the shoulder. An attractive red-brown colour is applied atop the cream-slipped base in concentric rings of varying widths around the foot, lower body, and rim. An intersecting ladder-form bar motif is painted across the shoulder. For similar see. An Austrian Werndl breech-loading percussion rifle, 19th century 33 1/2" barrel, with folding ladder sight and fixed foresight and levered breech block, the lockplate numbered '863', top flat of the barrel marked 'WW' and '68', with two swivel mounts (missing ramrod), 133cm long overall (wormed, heavily pitted to metal)Condition:We do not pack and ship in-house. For condition, please see the photos - as seen there is significant corrosion and pitting. No further markings are visible beyond the number '683' to the lockplate and the WW / 68 factory markings, both also photographed. The barrel is rifled but the bore condition seems relatively poor. There may be some marks elsewhere but these are very difficult to discern due to the wear.
A Martini-Henry .577/.450 carbine, 19th century, modified/customised in the Arabian Peninsular or India with silver wired banding, with Birmingham proof marks to the barrel, a folding ladder sight, 102cm longCondition:There is a split to wood near the barrel. The metal parts generally have some rust and could do with cleaning. The action does appear to work but is somewhat stiff.
