Jhs. werden. 1920-1940 lebte und arbeitete Miró größtenteils in Paris, wo er bereits in den 1920er Jahren neben Ernest Hemingway auch Henry Miller kennenlernte, dessen Buch "Das Lächeln am Fuße der Leiter" ("The Smile at the Foot of the Ladder") er dann fast vierzig Jahre später 1961 illustrieren sollte.
