JAPANESE IMARI PORCELAIN OCTAGONAL JAR WITH COVER, EDO PERIOD, H 30'', DIA 12": Octagonal shape with conforming cover centered by a gilded hawk finial perched on rockwork; decorated in underglaze blue and polychrome enamels with a scene of phoenix and trees, the shoulder and foot painted with lappet patterns enclosing cranes, plants and rabbits. No apparent markings. Edo period [1615-1868], probably circa 1700.
