A Chelsea brocaded Imari design scallop-edged plate circa 1752-8 painted in underglaze-blue, iron-red, green and gilding with a central foliate stem with two chrysanthemum flowers within a raised flower-shaped border decorated with alternate panels of prunus and other flowers punctuated by mons over diaper and brocade panels, the underside rim with three foliate sprays and the base with a double circle mark in underglaze-blue. blue-painted anchor mark 23.8cm., 9.375;in. diameter minor wear to gilding, minute nick to rim Similar examples were sold by Christies London, 24th February 2003, lots 10 and 11.
