A set of six Japanese Imari dished and scalloped plates, circa 1880, the centres with a ring of bamboo and pine framed by fan shaped panels with phoenix and stylised dragons amongst diaper and flowers, each with gilt rims, diameter 22 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Five plates have minor issues with the gilt rubbing on the rim. One plate has approximately 50% of the gilding of the rim erased. One plate has a small section of the underside which has been restored. The colour blue on four of the plates looks rather washed out, however this is a manufacturing fault. The gilding on the blue panels is pretty much intact although slightly rubbed. Other than those faults mentioned all ring out nicely when lightly tapped.
