A pair of Chelsea dessert plates c.1752-58, richly decorated in the Imari palette with the Brocade pattern, with sprays of flowering chrysanthemum to the well, the cavetto and rim with a wide panelled border of prunus sprays and hatched designs beneath floating chrysanthemum mon, the underside of the rims with further flower sprays, some faults, 24.2cm. (2) This pattern is copied directly from a Japanese original.

An 18th century Chinese Imari charger, decorated in the Imari palette with a central basket issuing flowers and foliage, all heightened in gilt, unmarked verso, dia. 35cm; together with one other decorated in the landscape and fence pattern, with label verso for May & Son, 61 Temple Road, Birmingham, dia.35cm (2) Condition Report / Extra Information Left hand plate - no chips or cracks, some light craquelure to glaze, significant paint wera to reds and gilt wear all over. Right hand plate - old chip to inside of footrim, rim chip at 2 o' clock, major handling wear most noticeably to gilt and reds, very little gilt still apparent.
