Late 19th/early 20th Century Japanese Arita dessert service decorated in the Imari palette with birds amongst foliage, and comprising: ten low comports, 24cm diameter and two high comports, 28.25cm diameter, each piece with six character mark Condition: One of the tall comports has a three pointed star crack visible within the deep cone of the base where there is an intentional firing hole, at least five of the plates have hairline cracks or sections broken out and restuck , a further plate has a flake to the underside of the rim, the blue has oxidised to a black on one of the plates and there are varying degrees of wear to the iron-red on all pieces and wear to the enamel decoration particularly at the rims - would recommend viewing this lot in person
Six Royal Crown Derby coffee cups and saucers in the Imari pattern, and a small lidded urn, height 15 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Five of the 6 saucers are in good order with no significant condition issues. The gilding is generally good. With only one of the 5 having a small gilding loss to the outer rim. The sixth saucer has a single chip to the rim. All coffee cans are in good order with no condition issues. The urn is damaged. It has been broken in half and has an old riveted repair. There is also a hairline crack running for approximately 2 cm. The knop to the lid has a loss to the tip.
A 19th century Imari charger. Diameter 46 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The charger is in generally very good condition. the colours are crisp and bright. The gilding is generally good although a little rubbed in places. There is one small faint hairline crack running from the lip for approximately 5 cm. This is visible on the rear of the plaque but barely visible to the front. There are a few small areas of paint loss to the centre pattern.
TWO JAPANESE PORCELAIN PLAQUES OR SHALLOW DISHES, one decorated with figures amongst foliage within a stylised border in an Imari palette, the other in underglaze blue with cranes and birds in a landscape. Both reverse decorated with underglaze blue designs of birds and other symbols, one with red seal mark. (2) 40cm diameter an 41cm diameter. (B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Both appearing undamaged but very dirty with scuffs and scratches, wirework frames.
PAIR OF LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY JAPANESE IMARI PORCELAIN, BALUSTER SHAPED, LIDDED VASES having pierced reticulated knops to the domed covers and being overall decorated in typical underglaze blue, iron red and gilded continuous decoration of fantastic birds amongst foliage and stylised building. Unmarked. (2) 45" high approx.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: The reticulated knop on one vase is damage, cracked, with losses, wear to gilding in places and rather grubby, no other damage or restoration noted.
