A large early-19th century Derby porcelain teapot hand-gilded and decorated in the Imari palette together with matching cream jug (2) CONDITION REPORT: Milk jug:-There is some minor brownish discolouration to the interior. There is some gilt rubbing notably to the edge near the pourer. There also appears to be some “kiln grit” (original) just underneath the pourer at the edge. The paintwork and gilding appears to be reasonable. The handle appears to be in reasonable order with no evidence of breakages, cracks, chips or restoration etc., but there is some minor discolouration to edges. The four “ball” feet to the underside appear to be in original condition and there is no evidence of reparations. The teapot and cover:-There is no evidence that the knopf finial has been away from the circular cover but there is evidence of “kiln grit” to the inside lip of the cover. There is some rubbing to the extremities of the top of the cover towards the edge where the gilding is apparent and some of the blue paint has run slightly. Very small areas of “bubbling” to circular gilt work to the outside of the knopf finial. The teapot is not without faults, two thumbnail sized chips to the interior where the cover would be recessed. Gilt rubbing and some “kiln grit” noted in places. Gilt rubbing around the spout area and some discolouration where the bottom of the spout meets the foot rim (both left and right). Further gilt rubbing and discolouration to the main body. Gilt rubbing around the spout area at the end but the tip of the spout does not appear to have been damaged except for a pin end sized abrasion to the very tip which may be original (this is very small).
A Royal Crown Derby mantel clock in the 'Old Imari' pattern (1128), 10.5cm high CONDITION REPORT: We think the piece is generally in good overall original condition. To the right of the clock face at the 1 o'clock and 3 o'clock position the raised octagon frame exhibits minor gilt rubbing to the extremities. We don't think there is any lines through the back stamp. The white dial is signed Royal Crown Derby and looks to be in good condition.
A pair of late-19th century Japanese porcelain planters; each delicately hand-gilded and decorated in the Imari palette with iron oxide reds, cobalt blues etc., and each 'signed' to the underside with a painted insect, 24cm diameter CONDITION REPORT: These are both stained inside where they have been used as planters and water has gone in. The porcelain has a little gilt rubbing around the edge at the top but nothing too dramatic. There is also a run over of glaze on the lip and this is visible to the inside. The undersides appear in good general overall condition. No signs of cracks, chips, hairlines or any old restoration etc., the planters appear to be good original condition. The paintwork and gilding also appears very bright and vibrant.
