A JAPANESE IMARI TEA BOWL AND SAUCER FROM THE COLLECTION OF AUGUSTUS THE STRONG, 18TH CENTURY Painted with small birds in flight above flowering branches, inscribed to the base respectively with Johanneum marks ‘N:70- +’ and ‘N:147- +’, together with an Imari bowl, decorated with the Three Friends of Winter, the interior with fruiting and flowering sprays, inscribed to the base ‘N:47+’, 17.3cm. (3) Provenance: from an English private collection. Formerly in the collection of Augustus the Strong, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland.
