A VERDURE TAPESTRY OF A FORMAL GARDEN LANDSCAPE POSSIBLY LILLE OR FLEMISH, EARLY 18TH CENTURY Depicting a tree lined avenue, two classical sculptures and a gentleman in the background, another in the mid-ground with a brown dog, within acanthus and c-scroll red ground and navy border Saleroom noticeThe dimensions are 219cm high, 293cm wide Condition Report: Please note revised size- approximately 219cm high, 293cm wide The whole presents well- but looks to have undergone professional conservation and with accompanying remedial work- with later backing- which is fixed. Areas of remedial tightening up stitch visible notably around centre and to the sky. Colours are slightly muted and whiter threads have browned from sunlight exposure which has led to former details in the skies and around the upper section of trees now only existing as faint shadows of branches, birds, far off building etc The border almost certainly a replacement which suggests that the main field may originally have been slightly larger. Slight rumples from folding Please see additional images for visual references to condition which form part of this condition report.
