A fine ceremonial woven tapestry, produced for display in an Artesh (army) office, hand-woven with fine silk [Iran, c. 1975] single large tapestry, framed on either side with Ancient Persian monuments and the emblems of Shir-o Khorshid and Cyrus the Great, in yellow or silver, set against a striking red background, main body of the tapestry filled with a poem, written in double columns of 5 lines of elegant yellow nasta'liq, all edges framed with yellow rope, with yellow tassels decorating lower edge of tapestry, in excellent condition, reverse with a few small tape-marks (from previous mounting in frame), total 1070 by 1320 mm.
A Regency 19th century believed Gillows of Lancaster open fauteuil armchair. The chair having gilt plaster gesso worked finish. S-scroll legs terminating in hoot feet over an overstuffed velvet and tapestry seat with open arms and half moon oversized upholstered back rest raised on further scroll uprights. Measures 67cm x 68cm wide at the arms.
