A George III mahogany wingback armchair, third quarter 18th century, with period tapestry upholstery, on chamfered legs, joined by stretchers, 111cm high, 90cm wide, 75cm deep Condition Report: Scratches and knocks to wood, the front stretcher has split in the middle and has been repaired, various rips to tapestry, the arms and wings are very wobbly, I was told it was kept in a conservatory for many years so it has been kept in the cold, the webbing is ok but the fabric has come un stuck on one side and leaks dirt/stuffing, slightly wobbly structurally We believe that the seat and back rest are from the same tapestry, but the arms and wings are from another tapestry but have been cleverly matched. Both are 18th century tapestries
A Flemish verdure tapestry fragment, 17th century, woven in wools and silks, depicting a heron before a bridge in a river within a woodland landscape, within a later tasselled braid border, later framed, tapestry - 48 x 57cm; overall - 58 x 67cmProvenance: The George Farrow Collection. Condition Report: In fair condition, with some areas of repair, including to foliage to top left and centre, to the water and possibly to the wings of the heron. As described in the catalogue the tasselled braid border is a later addition. Some loose threads to top right and left. Some discolouration. Has not been inspected out of the frame.
