A Victorian needlework sampler worked by Hannah Baker aged 14, dated 1855, daughter of James and Sarah Baker, Goathland, polychrome cross-work stitching in wool depicting Adam and Eve set amongst a garden of trees and animals, 60cm (24") x 57cm (22") all contained within a figured mahogany frame, one other sampler by Mary Coverdale, work finished April 5th, 1841 aged 9, polychrome cross-stitching showing bowls of flowers and potted plants, ducks, etc. 57cm (22") x 51cm (20").Condition report: Tapestry by Hannah Baker sun stained and faded, work by Mary Coverdale showing signs of staining (see photographs).

Large Chinese Embroidery Tapestry, Xianfeng period , dated 1851 This tapestry is for a birthday greeting. family greeting (from those listed on the left) to their parents (or grandparents/ other elderly relatives) to happily and healthily live together as long as it can be.regarding the date, it does say Xinhai which should be 1851 or 1911 according to Chinese Sexagenary cycle. But as the person was working for the Chinese imperial examination, and the system was abolished in 1905 , the 1851 date is the most possible.
