Lars Gynning for Pinton FrÅ res, Aubusson, 'Danseuse' a tapestry, signed 'Gynning', with 'PF' initials and titled verso, 106 x 81cm Affectionately called 'Monsieur Bleu', Lars Olof Gynning (1920-2003) was a successful Swedish painter and textile designer who trained in Europe and rose to fame in France. After completing his studies, Gynning began his most notable role as a designer with the Pinton FrÅ res atelier, which has been operating in Aubusson since 1867. This atelier was instrumental in modernising and reviving tapestries as an art form by featuring works from great 20th century artists.
A folio of largely late 18th/early 19th century unframed engravings, mezzotints and other items, together with an illustrated volume of the life and characters of Charles Dickens by Frederick Barnyard, a loom woven tapestry of figure before an inn and various pencil drawings/sketches, worthy of closer inspection.

Basire, published by the Society of Antiquaries of London, April 23rd 1821, a set of 17 CONDITION REPORTS Each approx 70 x 46cm. General wear, dirt, scuffs, creasing and undulations to paper, browning. Some stains and foxing. Some with mould spots.
Three late 19th/early 20th century German hand painted tapestry panel designs, each depicting floral sprays on a grid background, inscribed in German and numbered 1264, 2613 and 11333, each panel approx 23 x 24cm, framed and glazed. CONDITION REPORT: Largest one has a 4 inch tear from bottom edge. There are fold marks to two of the pieces. Tiny spots of foxing to edges.
Four late 19th/early 20th century German chair tapestry designed panels, comprising two floral decorated shaped back designs and two rounded rectangular seat designs, both hand painted on grid backgrounds, inscribed in German and numbered, the larger designs 48 x 32cm, the smaller designs 33 x 34cm, all framed and glazed (4). CONDITION REPORT: Foxing to two largest. Two 4 inch tears form bottom edge of both. No apparent stamp in ink. See photo for company name.
