Three parts of a tapestry with mithological scenesdating: 16th Centuryprovenance: SpainAll in brown tissue on a green cloth, on the lower part are red and yellow fringes; on the first one (23 x 38 cm.) are two jousting knights on horses surmounted by the inscription "ARCHILES MATO ETTOR"; on the second one (23 x 55) are noble figures and a castel, with two incomplete inscriptions "...NA PARES COMAST RESD"; on the last one (32 x 58) are nobles before a king and a queen, and the inscription "... RES ENEAS A ANTENOR REI TORIANO".Fine piece of tapestry, it deserves an adequate enhancing and framing.dimensions:
A 20th century walnut dining suite by Waring & Gillow Ltd., Lancaster comprising extending dining table, a sideboard fitted with a pair of doors flanked by cupboards and matching carver table with frieze drawer, and a set of eight dining chairs with tapestry seats all on turned legs united by wavy stretchers CONDITION REPORTS All with general wear, scuffs and scratches. Several quite large scratches to table top and some slight age cracking to veneers. Central leaf appears much less faded than the main table top. Some water marks and water stains particularly to stretchers. Sideboard and side table in similar condition to the table but with quite extensive fading to front of sideboard and quite extensive cracking to veneers, some knocks, dents and chips. Chairs all with wear and scuffs, fading, some chips and losses to veneers. Upholstery in very poor condition. Some chips. Some slight movement to frames but overall appear fairly sturdy.
A FRANCO-FLEMISH TAPESTRY worked as a betrothal scene with a lady and gentleman in elaborate dress beneath a tent like canopy being held open by two winged angels, the gentleman with a dog at his feet, the couple surrounded by flowers against a blue ground, within a red border, possibly mid 15th century with areas of restoration, 95" x 72".
