After Anthony Van Dyck (1599 - 1641)A large Polychrome wool Tapestry, probably Imperial Russia, St. Petersburg, early 19th Century "The Capture of Samson," with all round accentuated border, the centre upper band with a coat of arms and each corner with an oval shield depicting a grotesque mask. The centre with Delilah seated on a settee while the Philistines tied Samson with seven bow strings.* In the middle of the 18th Century Imperial Russia began to weave tapestry based on paintings by the great Dutch Masters such as Rubens, Rembrandt & Van Dyck, approx. (185cms x 279cms) 6' 1" x 9' 2". (1)

A continental ladies white metal and metallic thread mesh evening bag, decorated with a landscape with windmills and figures; a beaded purse with metal clasp decorated with fruiting vines, and a further bag (3) CONDITION REPORT: white metal - wear to the clasp, clasp dirty, metallic thread worn, interior has been relined so is in good condition, beaded - clasp dirty and worn, beading intact (possibly later added) lining very worn, visible threads joining bag to clasp, tapestry - stones missing to clap, tapestry seems to be in fine condition (possibly later), see extra images for further information
Three 19th century armorial hall chairs in the Anglo-Indian style - possibly Welsh, originally from Dolserau near Dolgellau, the elaborate backs carved with an armorial of a Lion, with tapestry armorial eats with similar armorial and Latin motto 'Fidelis', on scroll legs and paw feet, (some old worm holes) (At fault), 115cm H CONDITION REPORT: It is possible that these were commissioned in part from colonial India as the bases are very much of the Anglo Indian / Burmese style. All of the tapestry seats have a few small marks. One chair is wormed to the back rail of the chair seat, the underside of the seat - and a few other holes here and there. One chair is wormed to the underside of the seat and most of the length of one of the uprights. There are also water blemishes to top and back of the chair. This chair is also a little loose in the frame. The finials to this chair may be replacements as they are slightly smaller in size. Third chair also with some worm damage to the back and to the legs. Some attention may be needed. (At fault) PLEASE see additional images. The items have been entered by a vendors whose ancestors owned the house originally.
