A George III Silver Chamber Candlestick, by Louisa Cortauld and George Cowles, London, 1770 shaped circular and with gadrooned border, the leaf-capped scroll handle supports the conical extinguisher, the spool-shaped socket with detachable nozzle, engraved with an initial17.5cm wide over handle, 11oz 7dwt, 353grFully marked underneath. The extinguisher with maker's mark only. The nozzle apparently unmarked. The marks underneath are clear. The maker's mark on the extinguisher only partly visible. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The hook on the extinguisher has perhaps been reattached.

Further part marked on nozzle and extinguisher. The marks are generally clear, though with some wear to the maker's mark under base. There is the remains of tape residue over the marks. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use.

Further part marked on fixing pins underneath and nozzle.There is some wear to the marks but in general each is clear. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the engraving and the high points. There are some small chips to the bottles and one larger chip to the base of one bottle.
A Set of Six Elizabeth II Silver Candlesticks, by Barker Ellis Silver Co., Birmingham, Two 1972 and Four 1974 in the George II style, each on square base with canted corners, with baluster stem which terminate in spool-shaped socket with detachable nozzle, filled24.5cm high (6)Each fully marked on base and further part marked underneath and on five nozzles. The other nozzle is currently fixed in place, presumably by wax so it has not been possible to confirm it is marked. The marks are generally clear, though with some wear to the marks on one nozzle. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The stems of some lean slightly. There are obvious bruises to the nozzles on two and some dings overall otherwise. The bases are filled and leather covered. The leather covering with some scuffing and coming partly detached on one. There is a scrap to the silver on the base of one candlestick through to the filling material.
