Pair of Burmantofts turquoise-glaze corinthian column candlesticks, H29cm and another in an olive green glaze, all having impressed factory marks beneath, model no. 1198 (3)Condition Report:Olive green candlestick: chip to the base corner. Turquoise candlesticks: One has a chip to the base corner and further glaze chips to the other three corners, heavy crazing and small glaze chips to the capital and sconce and discolouration. The second is also heavily crazed and discoloured to the capital/ sconce, with small glaze chips around the edge. Fading of glaze to base corners. All three have surface wear and crazing commensurate with age, the two turquoise candlesticks have wax residue.

Drei prächtige Jugendstil-Leuchter "Heilige Drei Könige" von Meissen1- bzw. 4-flg.; Auf getrepptem, oktogonalem Postament aufsteigender, schlanker Schaft mit der Büste der langbärtigen Weisen aus dem Morgenland. Kaspar, Melchior und Balthasar mit abnehmbarem, gebogtem, vierflammigem Leuchteraufsatz aus Messing. Polychrome Malerei mit Goldstaffage. Entw. Erich Kleinhempel, 1903. Modell-Nr. T 197. Leuchteraufsatz erg.; Schwertermarke. H. 44 cm - 55 cm.Die in fließender, linearer Formensprache wiedergegebenen Figuren sind ein bemerkenswertes Beispiel des Meissener Jugendstils und obliegen dem aufkommenden künstlerischen Willen um 1900. Friedrich Erich Kleinhempel (1874-1947) war als freischaffender Künstler für die Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen tätig. Er studierte zwischen 1890 und 1893 an der Kunstgewerbeschule Dresden, war 1900 an der Gründung einer kunstgewerblichen Privatschule in Dresden-Striesen und 1909 an der Gründung der Künstlervereinigung Dresden beteiligt. Ab 1912 übernahm er die Leitung der Kunstgewerbeschule und des Kunstgewerbemuseums in Bremen. Der vielseitig begabte Kleinhempel entwarf neben Figuren u. a. auch Stoffe, Möbel, Gläser und Bucheinbände. Im Jahr 2000 legte die Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen die drei Jugendstil-Leuchter im Rahmen der Edition "ZeitZeichen" wieder auf. Vgl. Just, Meissener Jugendstil Porzellan, Abb. Minton Secessionist wares, a chamber candlestick marked to base No 1, a spill vase with Minton mark to the base No. 68, and an unmarked vase (3) (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The chamber stick has four cracks to its interior. These run from the base upwards in four different areas and extend to 2 cm long in places. Some are visible from the other side. There is a further crack to the top of the chamber stick as well. The other two vases in the lot appear structurally sound.
