A Fabulous Early 16th Century Flemish Brass Candlestick. The turned, slightly flared candle cup pierced with lateral extracting hole above a slender stem ornamented with five graduated blade knops and turned decoration to the base of the stem, flaring out to a dished drip pan above a bell shaped foot, 12 ins (30.5 cms) in height.
A Mid 18th Century Brass Candlestick & An 18th Century Brass Wall Sconce; The candlestick having a petal- edged candle cup rising from a knopped & ringed stem with petalled base 8½ ins (21.5 cms) in height. The wall sconce having a shaped, sheet brass wall plate decoratively pierced and embellished with worn punchwork above the large dished oval drip tray centred by a cylindrical candle cup with wax ejector, 8¼ ins (21 cms) in height.
A Large 17th/18th Century Scandinavian Brass Repoussé Candlestick. The candle socket centring an octagonal drip tray above a wide hallow barley twist column leading down to an octagonal platform and domed octagonal base decorated with bead-edged bosses & foliage enriched with punchwork and having ropetwist borders, 17½ ins (44 cms) in height.
Pieter Cornelis van Rijck (1568-1628). A Fine Oil on Panel: Kitchen Interior depicting a kitchen maid cleaning fish at a table laden in a basket of quinces & grapes, a string of onions, vegetables, a duck & sheep's head, with a bucket of water in the foreground, and salted meats, skimmer, candlestick and pot in background. Beside her is standing a young man swigging from a flagon. Possible remains of signature and date left of the maid's head. 35½ ins x 49 ins (90 cms x 125 cms) set in a moulded gilt frame with scrolling acanthus ornamentation 47½ ins x 60½ ins (121 cms x 154 cms). Other examples of De Rijck's work; all kitchen scenes are to be found in The Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, Haarlem, Museum of Fine Arts in Ghent Belgium, Brunswick and Munster in Germany.
A pair of Doulton Lambeth stoneware candlesticks tapering cylindrical form on domed foot, applied with applied foliate bands and swirling decoration in green, blue and ochre, a Doulton vase, two jugs and two tobacco jars and covers various impressed and incised marks, one candlestick repaired 30cm. high.
