A pair of late 19th century Adam style silver plated candlesticks, with detachable nozzles and Corinthian capitals above spiral acorn and oak leaf moulded columns on swept circular bases decorated with urns and acanthus leaves, maker's initial TB & S in a shield, height 32.5cm, (2).Additional InformationThe base of each candlestick with a patina of knocks and scuffs, one of the corners of a candlestick is knocked and the maker's marks on one are stronger than on the other, the nozzles do not have the maker's marks on them. Postage for this lot would be a medium box.
GOLDSMITHS & SILVERSMITHS CO; a set of four late 19th century silver plated Adam style candlesticks, each with a detachable nozzle and a Corinthian column above a spiral moulded column decorated with acorns and oak leaves, on outswept square bases, decorated with urn and acanthus leaves, height 25cm.Additional InformationAll candlesticks with a light patina of knocks and scuffs around the base, one of the candlesticks with a slight knock to the underside of one of the corners of the base, and another candlestick with a small dent to the base, general rubbing to the Adam detailing throughout, however overall appearance ok.
MEISSEN; a 20th century small pricket candlestick modelled by Sylvia Klöde, painted marks and incised number 223/91, height including pricket 6cm, also a Meissen plinth for a figure, decorated with floral sprays, painted marks to base, height 6cm (2).Additional InformationThe column to fit a figure has a gilt outline approximately 3.5 x 3.5cm and has minor rubbing to the gilding. Light surface wear to the pricket candlestick.
DERBY; a late 18th century figural candlestick with puce heightend base, height 28cm.Additional InformationRestoration to the sconce and the drip tray, also restoration where this meets the main stem which is heavily restored throughout. Restoration to the leaves and flowerheads,also restoration to the raised parts of her sleeves, a few losses around the base to the encrusted decoration.

There appears to be some old respraying to part of the underside of the rim, although it is not clear what restoration this is covering.

dating: provenance: Syria, Made of bronze. Shaped as a bell at the lower part, flat disk at the center, cylindrical column at the upper part with an enlarged sconce to hold the candle. Finely engraved, two heraldic shields featuring an eagle at the base, between them there are two animals of the wood looking at each other among floral motifs, a stripe of triangles at the lower border. The flat disk and the column are engraved with floral motifs, the triangle pattern is repeated among the rings at the top. Whereas the shields show remains of silvering, there are remains of gilding in the in-between spaces. The candlestick is composed of two pieces kept together by a big rivet at the center, inside the base. See a similar candlestick in the collection of the British Museum, Museum number 1855, 1201.6 height 15 cm.
