Maria Michis CATTANEO (1833-1901) large oil on canvas of still ife with flowers, pier table and mirror, candlestick and tiara. The artist exhibited in Genoa, Milan and Turin with 145 works, mainly in Private Collections. She was the daughter of Santino Cattaneo and wife of Pietro MICHIS (1834-1903), signed top right and dated 1870. The impressive bold giltwood frame is 51" x 42"

(Qty) Provenance: The Personal Collection of Peter Holmes, Property Master, and Set Designer.Peter Holmes joined Gerry Andersons Century 21 team as a props assistant after the production of Thunderbirds and very quickly became one of their most talented craftsmen. Set designer, John Lageu, gave Peter his first job at the Slough Studios and asked him to build a chair for Brains in the feature film Thunderbirds Six, and when fellow Set designer, Keith Wilson, saw Peters finished chair, he asked him to make the furniture for Lady Penelopes Pink Room in the same film. Peter went on to design and build props for Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, The Secret Service, the UFO series, Terrahawks and Space Police. Over the years, Peter Holmes has worked for many productions including, Set Designer, Along the Way (1972), 1970s pop videos for Adam Ant, Godley and Creme, Duran Duran, and later, Calling Elvis for Dire Straits. He sculpted the head for Max Headrooms ventriloquist puppets and supervised the shoot of Maxs exploding head. Peter won an award for a model of a Dauntless fighter bomber made for a crash sequence for the TV mini-series, War and Remembrance (1988-1989).

A rare Victorian carved Irish bog oak sarcophagus shaped two division Tea Caddy, profusely carved with hinged top, a central harp with sprays of shamrocks, the front frieze with a recumbent wolfhound issuing sprays of shamrocks above a heart shaped lock plate, and a shield to the rear, etched all over with trailing shamrocks, 17cms h x 28cms w (7” x 11”); A very good Victorian Irish bog oak Book Slide, the sliding base with a double base of shamrock sprays and other foliage, the hinged sides, one carved as Ross Castle, Killarney, flanked by two trees and the other, a Round Tower flanked with two trees, 20cms h x 51cms w (8” x 21”) closed;
