A pair of Chelsea (gold anchor period) porcelain two branch allegorical figural candlesticks. c.1765, the figures emblematic of the seasons, one with a dandy holding an ermine lined muff representing Winter and a girl holding a basket of flowers representing Spring, the other with a girl holding a sheaf of corn to represent Summer and young gentleman holding a basket of fruit representing Autumn, each pair of figures on a leafy mound encrusted with flowers and before a large tree festooned with deep orange flowers, flanked by pierced rococo style sconces heightened in turquoise and gilding, standing on rococo style bases richly decorated in gilt and with three scroll feet, each with gold anchor mark verso, the taller 10½in. (26.5cm.) high, some losses, one arm restored, one sconce damaged, sconces probably replaced on one candlestick. (2).
