A LATE GEORGE III BRASS SOCKET CANDLESTICK C.1800 the column stem topped by a broad sconce and raised on a heavy gauge square base with dished centre, stamped 'Lloyds' to each corner 20cm high Catalogue Note The marks to this candlestick and its very heavy, stable base, suggest that it might have been made for Lloyd's of London, a market for underwriting marine insurance which was founded by Edward Lloyd (d.1713) at Lloyd's Coffee House in 1686.

A George III silver cream jug by John Merry, London 1809, of helmet form with engraved foliate border, reeded rim and handle, 9.3cm high, together with an Edwardian loaded silver dwarf candlestick by J C Plimpton & Co, Birmingham 1905, 10cm high (2)CR; Jug: There appears to be a polished seam running from the lip to the base, possibly indicating repair. There is also a polished seam across the handle where it meets the body, which could also be indicative of repair. There are some small dents, mostly concentrated at the baluster waist. General scratching, wear and tear to exterior and interior commensurate with age and use. Hallmarks and decoration are slightly worn, but clear.Candlestick: Blue velvet base shows moderate wear and tear. There is very heavy denting and scratching around the base, and in some places the silver is coming away slightly from the weighted base. There is general scratching, wear and tear to the column and capital. The embossed decoration is quite worn, and has lost a moderate amount of definition.
A pair of George V silver candlesticks, marks for 'M.S', London 1933, each with faceted stems and shaped beaded sconces on square feet, 28cm high, gross weight 20.67ozt (2) (at fault)CR; Please note: These candlesticks are only hallmarked on the base.These candlesticks are not weighted.It appears as though the sconces where once detachable, but now appear stuck in place.Overall condition is fair. There is a moderate amount of small dents to the base, stems and capitals. Moderate amount of scratching, mostly concentrated at the base and the sconces. Neither show obvious signs of splitting or repair. Some wear/ loss of definition to the decoration around the base and sconces. One candlestick does wobble on a level surface, the other is stable.
