A pair of Paris (Jacob Petit) porcelain figural scent-bottles, mid-19th century, blue J.P. marks, modelled as a turbaned Sultan and Sultana, each seated cross-legged on purple cushions edged with gilt garland borders, the Sultan with a hookah, the Sultana with a bird, 20cm and 21cm high (2)Condition Report: Sultan: There is some slight retouching to the gilding of his dagger handle and the tassels of the cushion (this is not very noticeable).  The tip of the hookah pipe is lacking and a section of the pipe is restored.  There is some slight chipping and restoration to the hookah’s upper part.  There is a minute (and very minor) chip to the tip of his right shoe.Sultana: There is some restoration to the Sultana’s right shoe, the flower in her right hand and the bird perched on her left hand.  There is some overpainting to her neck and chest suggesting that her head has been restuck, and there is a small associated area of restoration to the tasselled end of her turban at the back.
