Boxed 1/50 scale diecast Weserhutte Type W 180 dragline excavator model by NZG (model no 500), with working metal tracks, sliding doors, poseable boom and bucket, full rigging instructions etc. Model is in near mint condition although a little dusty in places, only fault visible being one exhaust pipe that has broken off (but still present and a simple repair). No chipping or visible usage marks. Box very good with some light storage wear.

An operating model Steam Hammer by unknown maker, approx 11" high, with single hammer cylinder vertically mounted in 'pear' shaped frame and fitted with drain taps, with hand-worked operating valve and force-adjustment lever, neatly made and finished in black and grey, mounted on a substantial wooden base with alternative hammer head fitting, base approx 5½" x 6¼", inlet pipe fitted with airline nozzle, VG-E, small adjustment valve appears seized
An Overhead-crank single-cylinder vertical Steam Engine, by unknown maker, with curved-top frame to crankshaft mountings, the cylinder approx ¾" x 1" with steel flywheel 5½" diameter, the engine standing 9½" high overall from the hardwood base, fitted with forked connecting rod, wire-loop type valve strap and eccentric-operated pump, finished in green and black with polished metal fittings and wood-strip cylinder lagging, E, one steam pipe and pump inlet/outlet seem to lack any connections into wooden base
A 'Sanderson'-type steam Beam Engine, with fluted centre column and diagonal brace from cylinder supporting the fixed-end link and top of the Watt governor, the single cylinder approx 1" x 2" stroke, with 9½" round-edged flywheel, water pump driven direct from beam, governor (not connected to steam pipe) driven via bevel gearing, and large hand-operated steam regulator valve, the engine E, very nicely finished in green with red flywheel, all mounted on a rather basic blockwood base, together with a bag of brass columns, presumably intended to construct a more decorative base unit (2 inc bag of parts)
A Model Engineer steam Beam Engine, as featured in ME vols 121/122, the engine with approx 1" x 2" cylinder, large central supporting column, 10" long beam, 9" diameter flywheel, with direct water pump from the beam, functioning Watt-type governor with delicate steam-pipe linkage, and geared-up output shaft with pulley, E, nicely made and elegantly finished in mid-grey and black, mounted on a neatly made wooden base (could do with being a little higher to give flywheel more ground clearance), appears to have been moderately used
Two small Vertical Steam Engines with accessories by Bing and others, the engines of similar concept each with a small oscillating cylinder driving a crankshaft through the boiler, one with spoked red flywheel, whistle and elegant chimney approx 9" overall height, (G-VG), the other with solid flywheel and home-made stove-pipe chimney approx 7" overall (F), both with spirit burners, together with a 5-pulley lineshaft by unknown maker, a delightful lithographed Bing windmill dated '1702', a fine miniature vertical drill by unknown maker and a tin containing water funnel and spare cotton wicks, mostly G-VG (qty)
An uncommon 'Tessted' live steam 2½" Gauge NBR 'Atlantic' 4-4-2 Locomotive and Tender, with twin outside cylinders and inside eccentrics to valve gear, reversing valve operated from cab, the backhead fitted with large Clyde Model Dockyard pressure gauge, water gauge, regulator and drain cock, whistle and safety valve to boiler top, and lubricator above front buffer beam, fitted with springs to front driving axle, and finished in lined NBR livery, a rather subdued green-brown shade, the tender with (apparently) spirit tank with delivery pipe and shut-off valve, with gold NBR lettering and cast brass numberplates 868 to cabsides and rear of tender, overall G, spirit burner missing, some areas of paint loss and some evidence of old retouching, for example to cab roof and firebox areas, coupling rod pins appear to be replacements (2)
A MID 18th century PERCUSSION CAP SPORTING GUN CONVERTED FROM A FLINTLOCK, the barrel in two stages, octagonal and round with silver foresight, the whole surface inlaid with brass foliate decoration, the lock signed “In Wein”, with cast and chased silver decoration, walnut half stock, ram-rod pipe and butt of Spanish form, 53¾” long.PROVENANCE: Purchased at the Hever Castle auction; Sothebys, 5th May 1983
