A RALPH WOOD TOBY JUGdecorated in coloured glazes, the well modelled head with crow`s foot eyes, the right hand raising a two tone brown glazed beaker of foaming ale, holding a brown jug in the other hand, in dark brown hat, light green coat and pale yellow breeches, 23.5cm h, c1789-1801. Also with cylinders, pistons, connecting rods etc. A 3.5" 4-6-2 locomotive with wheels and a 5" 0-6-0 inside cylinder locomotive, with just two wheel sets. The fifth example is a short wheelbase 0-4-0 loco with wheels etc. The lot also contains a wide variety of useful items including various wheels - rough castings and others, a smoke-box with chimney and smoke box door, copper pipe, brass fittings and tenders, part constructed boiler and firebox parts. Also many boxes, tins and packets of sundry materials and parts, plus sections of Peco track. Together with the major parts of a Stuart Turner stationary beam engine and a box-file containing plans and drawings of locomotives produced by John E. Skinley, Southend-on-Sea. Viewing recommended. QGC-VGC, surface rusting to some.
A Japanese tabakoire and tobacco purse the leather purse embossed and heightened in gold, the elaborate silver and gold clasp of mother and child with the servant offering food. Souvenirs of L31 mounted on an oak shield-shaped board. A wooden board (40cmx51cm), made of 2 planks bound together with iron strips front and rear, shaped to resemble a shield, on which are mounted 9 souvenirs retrieved from the remains of L31. In the centre of the board is a descriptive card, covered by yellowed celluloid that reads “Parts of a Zeppelin brought down at Potters-Bar Oct 1916”. Below the card is a piece of Zeppelin framework, showing signs of oxidation, above the card are the remain souvenirs including another small section of framework, an aluminium pipe, the cap of a tank and several other curious items.
