A JAPANESE TABAKO-IRE (TOBACCO POUCH) WITH MIXED METALS FITTINGSMEIJI ERA, 19TH CENTURYThe leather pouch with a mae-kanagu modelled as two samurais fighting a large tiger, one with a snake emerging from behind him and the other with a fox's tail; attached to an undecorated kiseruzutsu (pipe case) by a chain made of a series of shaped panels made of further mixed metals, each depicting one of the Seven Gods of Good Fortune; together with a silver and iron kiseru (pipe) decorated with branches of bamboo; the tabako-ire 12.3cm, the kiseruzutsu 21cm. Chinese School, early 19th century, a pair of gouaches, interior scenes, the first depicting a lady seated in an interior, an attendant behind her feeding a parrot on a suspended perch by a window, the second a lady wearing formal dragon robes standing in front of an opium bed with an attendant to her left holding an opium pipe, the trellis-work shutters propped open at the window in the background, each 48cm x 37cm later framed and glazed, one with Harrods framing label, both with some occasional stains and marks to the paper possible light retouching in places.PLEASE NOTE:- Prospective buyers are strongly advised to examine personally any goods in which they are interested BEFORE the auction takes place.
