This has resulted in demand being satisfied by the replica-building industry. Built by Porsche Spyder Inc specialist Rob Lindsay in 2003, this 718 RSK replica is powered by an air-cooled 2.2-litre Volkswagen engine incorporating a counterweighted long-stroke crankshaft, 'I'-beam con-rods; lightened and balanced flywheel with heavy-duty clutch plate and a high-performance camshaft and followers. The engine breathes via twin carburettors and drives via an up-rated gearbox incorporating side pressure plates. Other noteworthy features include a front disc brake conversion (retaining the traditional 5-stud slotted steel wheels and hubs), large-bore full stainless-steel exhaust system with central single exit pipe, alloy fuel filler cap, luggage box under rear body section, and low Perspex screens as per the original racers. It also boasts original Porsche badging including 'Wendler' coachbuilder's badges and 'Nürburgring' plaque on the driver's side. The car is appropriately finished in silver with red leather interior, the latter featuring a MotoLita wood-rim steering wheel. A 4-point harnesses on each seat, Porsche style mint green instrument dials, billet aluminium knobs and switches and a push button starter complete the interior. 1979 Jaguar SS100 by Suffolk Engineering Transmission: manualMileage:2483The SS100 was built between 1936 and 1940 by SS Cars Ltd of Coventry, England. The nomenclature was to reflect the theoretical 100mph maximum speed and once approved by Sir William Lyons, the name 'Jaguar' was given to a new saloon version in 1936. Widely considered to be one of the most aesthetically pleasing Jaguar cars ever built, it is also one of the rarest with only 198 of the 2.5 litre and 116 of the 3.5 litre models being manufactured. Most stayed on the home market but 49 were exported. Cars in good condition now regularly fetch in excess of £300,000. It is of little surprise then, that those of us of a more impecunious persuasion would look for an alternative and a number of boutique car manufacturers set about feeding this demand, supplying good quality recreations at a fraction of the cost of a real one. When re-imagined by Suffolk Sports Cars the rebuilt engine ancillaries included starter motor, alternator, distributor, water pump and a twin pipe stainless steel exhaust system being fitted. Also fitted were disc brakes, all as new, with adjustable shock absorbers on a six coil-spring suspension system, rack and pinion steering before finishing off with a louvered alloy bonnet. This wonderfully presented example is finished in Old English White over a Claret dark red Connolly leather interior with red Wilton carpets and sits proudly on wire wheels. The engine is a rebuilt Jaguar 4.2 litre unit and is mated to a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. Fitted with fuel injection the SS100 runs very smoothly indeed starting up ‘on the button’ and sounds fantastic. In excellent condition, the paintwork and interior are very good as is the engine bay which boasts smooth polished cam covers. Offered with the side screens, tonneau cover, hood bag and fitted hood, this car is equally adept in inclement conditions. Supplied with the car is a history file which includes the Suffolk build programme sheet, various invoices for maintenance, many old MoT test certificates, a current UK V5C registration document and a bespoke touring luggage case which fits to the rear luggage frame, needless to say it’s the perfect car for any touring trips! Interested parties should note that the Jaguar is not currently IVA tested and is registered as a 1979 Jaguar Sports. This superb example is offered with an MoT valid until October 2021 and is ready to be enjoyed by a new custodian.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 195

1974 BMW 2002Tii Cabriolet Transmission: manualMileage:50066BMW's director of product planning, Helmut Werner Bönsch and Alex von Falkenhausen, the designer of the BMW M10 engine, had both been owners of a 1600-2 (1602) and, subsequently, had both installed a two-litre engine in their respective cars. Following the realisation that they had both made the same modification, they prepared a joint proposal to BMW's board to manufacture a similar version of the 1602. At the same time, American importer Max Hoffman was asking BMW for a sporting version of the 02 series that could be sold in the United States. The 1990cc engine was made available in 1968 in two states of tune: the base single-carburettor 2002, producing 100bhp as in the 2000 and 2000C and the dual-carburettor, high compression 2002Ti, producing 120bhp as in the 2000Ti and 2000CS. In that same year BMW introduced its first fuel injected model, the 2002 Tii which differed from the carburetted Ti in using Kuglefisher mechanical injection instead of twin carbs, pushing the power further to 130BHP.This is a very rare and original, 1974 BMW 2002Tii Cabriolet. It is believed that only 93 right hand drive Targas were made by Baur and this car is numbered 3595002, being the second facelifted car off the production line. It is not known how many were produced with the injection engine but what we do know is that the engine is virtually the same age as the car indicating that it may well have been a special order when new. Certainly, the Tii clock and 4-speed gearbox are original to the car plus the Zebrano wood surround to the dials and gauges. It was first registered in the UK on 16th October 1974 as SWY 3, but at some time was taken to Guernsey and registered with the number 62190, returning to the mainland in 2005. Recently, £12,310 has been spent on the car including a total fuel injection overhaul with new injectors and a refurbished pump. A full service and every oil seal gasket, pipe and clip has been renewed. The brakes have also been overhauled and the radiator re-cored resulting in a car which now starts and runs beautifully. The rear fold down soft top and the roof material have all been renewed and the seats were repaired and retrimmed. The period steel wheels have been professionally refurbished and new tyres fitted. The exhaust is relatively new to. Rust free, apart from a small blemish on the driver’s door, the car is finished in the original colour of Golf yellow with black roof and black interior and comes supplied with a UK V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in June 2022, two sets of keys, owner’s manual, original sales brochure and a large history file. A rare fun car which is exceptionally well sorted mechanically.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 288

1969 Jaguar XJ6 2.8 Transmission: automaticMileage:61240Launched in September 1968, the Jaguar XJ6 was the last model that Sir William Lyons had a, hands-on, input into the design. This new model was the result of several years of development and streamlined the extensive portfolio of models offered by Jaguar at the time. This new, reasonably priced car, managed to retain the principles of earlier Jaguars but offered a new level of driveability and safety. It created such a desire that second-hand models were achieving higher prices than new cars on dealership forecourts. These early models have outstanding ability and are considered by many enthusiasts as the purist form of Sir William Lyons’ design. This exceptional magazine featured early XJ6, was manufactured at Browns Lane on 8th December 1969 and was supplied initially to an engineering company based in Wolverhampton which is still trading today. An invoice for the sale of the car from 1970 for £2,468 is present in the history file. Finished in Jaguar Light Blue with dark blue Connolly leather interior, the car still retains all its early production features including chrome dials, straight exhaust pipe finishers, small rear lights, simple battery carrier with attached washer bottle, S1 wheel trims and original carpets. Servicing was initially conducted by the Jaguar factory service department but since 2000 it has been entrusted to Jaguar authorised retailers based in the Edinburgh area, or most recently by ex-Jaguar Classic technicians in Coventry, who carried out a major service and recommissioning work in 2020. In addition, the original engine was completely rebuilt by the respected specialist VSE in Wales, with only 11,000 or so miles covered since. The coachwork was restored at considerable expense by Classic Restorations in Scotland, renowned for their outstanding work on Rolls-Royce and Bentley vehicles. This included many new panels and a full repaint in the highly attractive original colour scheme. A considerable history file with numerous invoices accompanies ECG 438H, including the original owner’s manual and wallet, all the MoT test certificates since 1972, a number of vehicle tax discs, invoices for restoration, servicing and the engine rebuild and a copy of Jaguar World from 1993 which features this car and owner at the time. Offered to auction with a V5 registration document and a fresh MoT test certificate, this is a rare opportunity to own a stunning and highly original early Series I XJ. Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

1967 MG B GT V8 Conversion Registration number AAR 521F Chassis number G/HD3-124614 Owned since 1983 Client (an engineer/garage owner) installed a Rover 3500 V8 (understood to have travelled just 1,500 miles at that time coming from an insurance write off) Manual with overdrive Garage stored for many years Will need re-commissioning Old MOT certificates 1983, 1985-87 For sale due to a house move and ill health Last taxed in 1987 as not practial as a family with four children V5 (notes original 1798cc engine) Starter motor failed, client has fitted one but had to cut the exhaust pipe to access/fit From the owner: The rear axle is the later one which is of a higher ratio, The gearbox came from the same vehicle an is the 4 speed with overdrive. I cannot remember the year of the doner vehicle that these parts came from. The bump on the bonnet can be eliminated by fitting an Offenhauser manifold and mounting the carbs on the back of the engine ,trouble is it takes the power down from 232 BHP to 128 BHP, I could put up with the bump no problem its like driving an E Type. I have an exhaust system here at home that I made 25 years ago from scaffold tubing that will last a lot longer than anything on offer today for the MG. Its a real pain to fit but it will fit the car.

Over the years the model evolved through the D1 of 1948 to the D3, D5, D7, D10, D14/4 and finally in 1969 the D175. Production ceased in 1971.BSA introduced the D14 range in 1968, a one year only model. Production began late in 1967, and early engine prefixes were listed as D13, though this was never a model. The Supreme was now fitted with the 4-speed box, ending the Bantam's relationship with 3 speeds. The old exhaust pipe bore was found too restrictive for the new tune up, so a larger one was fitted. On the ever diminishing market for British motorcycles, BSA sought to make the Bantam yet more powerful. They increased the compression ratio to 10:1, resulting in a power increase to 13 hp. The bike would now shift along at the best part of 70 mph; the market had changed from wanting the fuel-efficient three speeds D1, to the speedy D14/4. ULG has MOT history from a garage in Wigan dating back to 1993, then again in 2004, 2005, 2008,2009 and 2013 with a mileage of 8,828, today it is at 8,852. At some point it was then purchased by our deceased vendor, along with another D14, MXA 12G also in this auction. He has swapped the engines over as ULG should have engine HC02141 B175 fitted but this is dismantled along with the rest of MXA.Sold with the V5C and aforementioned MOT's, it will need recommissioning before use, please note that the V5C has not had the engine number changed.
