An interesting 1821 pattern light cavalry trooper’s sword, slightly curved, pipe backed blade 33”, with Solingen knight’s head mark and inspector’s stamps at forte, steel hilt with knucklebow, 2 sidebars and spring loaded turn down sideloop, plain pommel and backstrap, in associated steel scabbard with 2 rings marked 7H’s/ D erased/336 on one side and crown VR Enfield 18 (?)6 on the other. QGC (grip crudely replaced, dark pitting to worn hilt and scabbard)
An 1821 pattern light cavalry trooper’s sword, slightly curved, pipe backed blade 33”, steel hilt with knucklebow, 2 sidebars and sideloop, plain pommel and backstrap, ribbed leather grip, marked B/3 (? unclear) on backstrap. Basically GC (some wear and pitting, cleaned patches to backstrap)
A 16 bore flintlock “man stopper” or overcoat pocket pistol, c 1800, 9¾” overall, octagonal barrel 5¼” engraved “Manchester” and with Tower private proofs, the flat stepped lock with swan neck cock and roller on frizzen spring, the plate engraved “Aston”, the walnut fullstock with rounded butt having Egg type chequering, and engraved brass trigger guard with pineapple finial. GWO & C (ramrod pipe and section of stock above the lock missing, small splits in fore end, ramrod replaced). Note: W Aston of Manchester operated from c. 1780-1820
An early 19th century 65 bore muzzle loading pneumatic air gun, 46½” overall, 2 stage barrel 30½” with octagonal breech, beneath which is a threaded valve for attachment of the ball reservoir (now missing), the large flat lock of flintlock form with cocking lever, the plate engraved with fern tip border, gun dog, and “T Mortimer & Son” in oval, the walnut halfstock with chequered wrist, single set trigger, steel mounts including scrolled trigger guard, and GS barrel wedge plates and escutcheon. GWO & basically GC (old heavily varnished finish overall with possible pitting beneath, stock damaged below the lock, rear sight, ramrod and front ramrod pipe missing). Plate 4 Note: T Mortimer and Son were at 44 Ludgate Hill, London from 1807 to 1824.
A 65 bore “flintlock” muzzle loading pneumatic air rifle, c 1800, 45” overall, 2 stage multi sided barrel 29” with octagonal breech, beneath which is a threaded valve for attachment of the ball reservoir (now missing), the lock of conventional form with flat cock, rainproof pan and roller on frizzen spring, the plate engraved with fern tip border, flowers, and sunburst, and originally with gold poincon for maker’s name (now missing), the walnut halfstock having detachable butt with chequered wrist, steel mounts including scrolled trigger guard, and silver fore end cap, barrel wedge plates and oval escutchoen. The lock in GWO, the whole in basically GC with age patina overall (old varnish to barrel, the mounts worn and moderately pitted, the rearsight, ramrod and throat pipe missing). Plate 4
An 18th century kettle stand with turned fruitwood legs, 19 by 17cm square, a planched pewter cigarette box with RMS Mongolia engraved; the ship was torpedoed in WWI July 1918, a Japanese netsuke, a pewter whistle, a bone handled Rodgers knife, a hunting horn, an opium pipe, and a hip flask.
