HORSTMANN & SONS, PHILADELPHIA, CIRCA 1865-70 with pipe-backed blade etched with laurel foliage, a tent, the motto 'E.Pluribus Unum', an American eagle, a US shield on a trophy-of-arms and oak foliage above the maker's details on one face and similar designs including a native American warrior on the reverse, the back-edge etched 'Iron Proof' (very small chips, patches of staining and light pitting), brass hilt comprising a pair of scrolling frontal bars joining the knuckle-guard, the latter rising to a cap pommel, decorated throughout with foliage in low relief and retaining traces of gilding, vertically fluted nickel grip, in its original steel scabbard with brass mounts boldly engraved with foliage on the front, the locket and middle-band fitted with a ring for suspension, and the latter with presentation inscription (the scabbard with areas of light pitting and patinated overall) 89.5 cm; 35 1/4 in blade The presentation inscription reads: 'Presented to Col. Geo. Gray by the Officers of the Mich. 6th Cavalry'. On 12th December 1862 the Michigan Cavalry Brigade was formed in Washington D.C. with Colonel George Gray commanding the 6th Regiment. In July the following year Gray fought with Brigadier General George A. Custer at the Battle of Gettysburg. Custer recalls the ability of Colonel Gray and the men of the 6th Cavalry in his action report: 'The 6th Michigan Cavalry rendered very good service by guarding both my right and left flank: also by supporting Battery 'M' under a very hot fire from the enemy's battery. Colonel Gray, commanding the regiment, was constantly seen wherever his presence was most needed and is deserving of special mention.'

GERMAN FLINTLOCK SPORTING GUN FOR THE WURTTEMBERG COURT HUNT, THE BARRELS SIGNED BLAS SEILER VON EHING, CIRCA 1830 in the French taste, with blued barrels inlaid over their length with scrolling silver foliage and flowers, silver fore-sight, signed over the breeches and inlaid with a bouquet of flowers, silver vents, border-engraved tang decorated with foliage and decorated with the Royal arms of Wurttemberg in silver (rubbed), blued locks decorated with trophies-of-arms and trophies-of-hunting in inlaid and engraved silver, fitted with semi-rainproof pans and rollers, figured walnut half-stock, chequered fore-end and grip each inset with an alternating arrangement of foliate and plain silver studs, the locks and tang enclosed by further minute studs, the former further enriched with silver wire and the latter with a pair of silver Medusa masks and foliate rondels, carved butt with finely scrolling foliate terminal behind the trigger-guard, raised cheek-piece profusely inlaid with vine fruit and foliage on the left, the right decorated with a matching design enclosing a star formed of alternating panels of dark stained horn and mother-of-pearl, engraved iron mounts comprising trigger-guard with neo-classical finial including a warrior head, and a putto playing a flute on the bow, butt-cap with a horse on the spur, rear ramrod-pipe with a bull's head, silver fore-end cap, silver escutcheon numbered '2', and associated steel ramrod 89.2 cm; 35 1/8 in barrels Blasius Sailer is recorded repairing firearms in the town of Ehingen, Wurttemberg 1825-6 and as a resident of that town 1838-40. The decoration is reminiscent of Christian Koerber who also worked for the Wurttemberg royal family.

A .700 CALIBRE AUSTRIAN FLINTLOCK SPORTING RIFLE BY FLUNCK IN ST PÖLTEN, CIRCA 1760-70 with signed rebrowned octagonal swamped sighted barrel rifled with seven grooves, fitted with associated brass back-sight and stamped with the barrelsmith's mark, a lion statant, its front paw on an orb above the initials 'E.F.', signed bevelled lock engraved with stag hunting scenes, fitted with engraved cock, steel and bridle (rubbed, top-jaw replaced), double set trigger, full stock carved with scrolls about the rear ramrod-pipe, the tang and over the butt, the latter with raised cheek-piece on the left and patchbox with sliding cover on the right (butt repaired), engraved brass mounts including solid side-plate decorated with a boar-hunting scene, trigger-guard, butt-cap and vacant escutcheon, three ramrod-pipes, horn fore-end cap and horn-tipped wooden ramrod 72.0 cm; 28 3/8 in barrel The maker's mark is not recorded in Støckel.

A 12 BORE GERMAN WHEEL-LOCK SPORTING RIFLE BY HANNS ROHR IN BAYREUTS (SIC), DATED 1661 with octagonal swamped sighted barrel rifled with a series of slender grooves and engraved with a garland around the muzzle face, engraved with scrolling foliage and large expanded flowerheads over the breech and muzzle, the former signed and dated ahead of the back-sight, engraved tang, flat lock retained by two side nails, fitted with external wheel retained by a pierced openwork gilt-brass bracket decorated with a symmetrical arrangement of two sphinxes, fitted with sliding pan-cover with button release, finely engraved dog decorated with two monsterheads, fitted with gilt-brass bridle formed as a cherubic mask, and with an additional gilt-brass dragon, double set trigger, blackened full stock lightly carved behind the rear ramrod pipe, covered over much of its surface with large engraved silver plaques depicting scenes from the chase, including a fox with a bird-of-prey, a hunter and hound in pursuit of a boar on each side of the fore-end, a large prowling bear opposite the lock and a mounted nobleman beneath, the butt applied with further plaques including, on the left, a doe and stag in a woodland landscape on the cheek-piece and, on the right, with patchbox with sliding cover applied with a further silver plaque of a hunter in contemporary dress, pierced iron trigger-guard shaped for the fingers, silver butt-plate engraved with the owner's coat-of-arms and numbered '9', and silver fore-end cap (later ramrod and ramrod-pipe, some silver plaques restored), the cheek-piece applied with an early red wax gewehrkammer seal 83.0 cm; 32 3/4 in barrel Hans Ruehrer is recorded active in Bayreuth, Bayern, circa 1658.

A FINE .900 CALIBRE PERCUSSION RIFLE FOR LARGE GAME BY W. G. RAWBONE PATENTEE AND MANUFACTURER, CAPE TOWN, NO. 2591, CIRCA 1865 with heavy octagonal barrel rifled with ten broad grooves, struck with Birmingham and black powder proof marks beneath the breech, the top flat matted, incised with a long slender sighting line terminating in a blued fore-sight at the muzzle and the rear terminal with a recessed circular panel (silver lining missing), folding back-sight of two blued leaves to 300 yards, signed 'W. G. RAWBONE PATENTEE AND MANUFACTURER' within a frame of Greek key behind, scroll-engraved case-hardened breech struck with the gold-lined barrelsmith's mark, scroll-engraved bolster with engraved platinum plug (each side of the top flat with areas of light pitting), scroll-engraved case-hardened tang, border-and scroll-engraved signed case-hardened lock fitted with hammer en suite, half-stock with chequered grip (light bruising), inlaid with a small engraved German silver scroll on the left, scroll-engraved blued iron mounts (small areas of light pitting and wear) comprising trigger-guard, butt-plate, fore-end, rear ramrod-pipe and barrel bolt escutcheons, two further ramrod-pipes, the rear with a loop for a sling (the other sling swivel missing), and original brass-tipped wooden ramrod 81.5 cm; 32 1/8 in barrel William George Rawbone (1809-93) is recorded as a gunmaker with workshops in Birmingham, England, Cape Town, South Africa and, latterly, in Toronto, Canada. In 1862 his patent no. 2530 was granted for '..... improvements in gun barrels, and in machinery to be employed in effecting [them]..... a sighting line formed on the top of the barrels, or the mid-rib, by fixing silver wire in a square groove therein.....'

A FINE AND RARE 30 BORE HUNGARIAN SILVER-MOUNTED FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOL BY D. FLOCH A PEST, CIRCA 1760 with browned etched twist barrel fitted with silver fore-sight on a bed of silver scrollwork, signed 'D. Floch a Pest' in silver letters on the flat, encrusted with further silver scrollwork enclosing the owner's arms supported by a pair of hunters in contemporary dress over the breech, gold-lined vent, chiselled tang, border-engraved blued rounded lock inlaid with silver wire scrolls en suite with the barrel, fitted with rounded cock and steel each decorated en suite, the latter with enclosed spring inside the lock plate, highly figured full stock (fore-end expertly repaired) carved in low relief about the barrel lock and mounts including a green man mask issuant with silver wire scrollwork behind the tang, inlaid with silver wire scrolls over the fore-end, behind the rear ramrod-pipe, about the tang and over the butt, full silver mounts comprising openwork side-plate, spurred pommel chased with palmettes and the cap with a warrior mask profile, trigger-guard with foliate terminal, escutcheon decorated with the owner's crowned arms supported by a pair of lions, a pair of faceted ramrod-pipes and moulded fore-end cap and later silver-tipped wooden ramrod 30.2 cm; 12 in barrel Domonkos Floch is recorded in Pest circa 1760-70. Relatively few Hungarian firearms of this period are signed. See Géza 1911, pp. 209-227 and János 1971, p. 228.

A FLINTLOCK BLUNDERBUSS BY HENRY (1) KIRBY, CIRCA 1690 with brass barrel formed in three stages, flaring towards the muzzle, engraved with strawberry foliage, struck with London proof marks and the barrel smith's mark at the breech, engraved iron tang, associated iron lock (seized), highly figured rootwood full stock, brass mounts (rubbed) comprising trigger-guard engraved with foliage on the bow and with moulded finials, butt-plate with pronounced heel finely engraved with strawberry foliage and a monsterhead and extending to a slender tang, escutcheon with a warrior mask and moulded ramrod-pipe (ramrod missing, worn throughout, the stock cracked through and repaired) 34.7 cm 13 3/4 in barrel Henry 1 Kirby was elected Beadle to the Gunmakers Company 1721 and died the following year.

An excellent signed original watercolour, `Gus´, one page, oblong folio, drawing paper, n.p., 1st December 1989, in French. Gus has drawn a funny sketch showing George H. W. Bush offering a peace-pipe to Mikhail Gorbachev, with the legend `Malta - Meeting Gorbachev-Bush´ in his hand. The drawing shows both leaders seated on a carpet, drinking vodka and coke, Bush stating “Pipe-peace. Old custom in our country”. VG

Adam Stanheight's (Leigh Whannell) broken hacksaw from James Wan's horror film Saw. Stanheight woke up with his ankle chained to a pipe and attempted to cut the chain with a hacksaw, which only broke the hacksaw.This black metal hacksaw features an adjustable frame, wing nut adjuster, and black plastic handle. The hacksaw has been purposefully weathered by production and does not include a blade. It is in excellent overall condition with minimal wear from production, including scuffing throughout and clear tape wrapped around one end.
