Sutcliffe (Frank Meadow). An albumen print of two fishermen leaning on a coastal wooden rail, late 19th c., sl. creased and a little spotted, together with another Sutcliffe albumen print of an old fishermen with pipe leaning on a water butt, both unnumbered and unsigned, approx. 20 x 15 cm (2)
A Regency Chamber Pipe Barrel Organ in fine Gothic case of mahogany with 92 pipes in 2 ranks controlled by 4 stops: Diapason (wooden pipes) and Principal (metal), Twelfth and Fifteenth, the 23 notes covering 2 ½ octaves. 3ft W, 7ft H. Of the 9 wooden cylinders, 8 play 10 tunes each, mostly hymns, the other being a spirally-set complete voluntary. Maker probably J. Hicks, organ-builder Bristol (c.1816-1829); labelled on cylinders. Overhauled 1996. Provenance: Country house until 1955, single private owner since then.
A rare dated pearlware globular teapot and a domed cover, with loop handle and acorn knop, painted in underglaze blue with a gentleman seated at a tripod table, holding a glass and a pipe, the reverse with a Chinese pagoda, and inscribed 'George Swift 1780', within looped border, 16.5cm high (6 1/2"), the base also inscribed George Swift, circa 1780 (cracks, chips to rim, cover and spout) (See illustration)
A James Hadley & Sons Worcester porcelain figure of a bearded gentleman wearing a frock coat and top hat, a pipe at his feet, standing on circular rustic base, slight firing crack within the base, minor fritting to edge, incised signature and printed marks, Reg. No 359751, circa 1896, 8 1/4in high.
A hardwood staff head modelled as a standing male figure, on circular platform base with zig-zag carved border, possibly Zulu, 7 1/2in high, mounted on perspex base; a bronze pipe with basket weave decoration, the stem patterned with white and turquoise beads, 25in overall; two beadwork bands, 1in wide, 41in and 44in long; and an iron currency blade with bound copper wire grip, 24in overall length.
