Akinlabi (Akin) Fakeye (Nigerian, Yoruba b.1936) A good associated pair of figure carvings, one an Oba presented on horseback with musket, blade and pipe, the other his wife, presented with a pestle and mortar, carrying a child at her back, the two figures with matching facial scarification, each signed ‘AKINFAKEYE’ to undersides, 61cm high. Purchased by parents of current vendor while living in Ibadan, Nigeria in the 1970s.
