Percussion single barrel shotgun by Read Percussion single barrel shotgun by Read, 15 bore 30 inch Spanish form Damascus barrel, with gold and platinum breech lines, converted from flintlock, scroll engraved action, pineapple finial trigger guard and finely chequered stock.Section 58(2) antique / obsolete calibre, can be owned without a licence. Buyer must be over the age of 18, age verification ID will be required if the lot it to be posted out.120cm overallThe shotgun is generally in nice pleasing condition. The metal work has some light pitting and slight brown staining to the barrel as well as a small corrosion patch which would clean off fairly easily. The inside of the bore looks to have some light surface corrosion but would probably polish up well. The forward ramrod pipe has been resoldered back in place. The action works correctly with a strong mainspring and good trigger. The stock has a chip to the forend where the thinnest part of the wood meets the barrel just behind where the barrel key is located. There is a short split in the typical place above the side nail (screw) which holds the lock in place. The stock has numerous scratches, small dents, and marks but nothing is defacing.
