Songs & Ballads.- The New Pipe of Tobacco. A favourite French Air, printed broadside song, woodcut illustration at head, folds, browned, [ESTC lists a collection of broadside poems by J. Davenport at Cambridge University Library but this title is not recorded], 270 x 85mm., Printed and Sold by J. Davenport, No. 6, George's Court, [?1800] § The Murder of Harriet Lane. Lines written on the Horrible Crime in Whitechapel, where a Young Woman has been Murdered and her body cut up in 15 or 16 parts, printed broadside song, a few rust holes hardly affecting text, folds, corners creased, [not listed in Worldcat], 250 x 190mm., [1875]; and 20 others songs and ballads, v.s., v.d. (22 pieces).
Unusual 1822 Pattern Infantry Officer’s Sword33 inch, single edged, slightly curved, pipe back blade. Etched stand of arms and foliage panels. Brass Gothic hilt with folding rear section. Laurel edged blank cartouche. Brass backstrap. Shagreen covered grip with twist wire binding. Brown leather sword knot.
1821 Pattern Cavalry Sword28 3/4 inch, single edged, pipe back blade. Steel three bar guard. Steel stepped pommel and plain backstrap. Shagreen covered grip with twist wire binding. Contained in its Indian pattern scabbard. Leather covered wood with steel chape and two hanging ring mounts. Some damage to top of grip.
1796 Pattern Heavy Cavalry Pistol by “Sargant”.800, 9 inch, smoothbore barrel. Breech with proof stamps. Lock plate with line edge engraving. Maker “Sargant”. Rear tang marked “Warranted”. Ring neck flint cock with line edge engraving. Steel frizzen. Polished full stock woodwork. Brass trigger guard, side plate and ramrod pipe. Wooden ramrod with brass cap.
1799 Light Dragoon Flintlock Pistol15 bore, 10 inch barrel. Breech with proof stamps. Lock plate with line edge engraving. Stamped “GR” crowned cypher. The tang marked “Tower”. Swan neck cock with line edge engraving. Polished full stock woodwork. Brass butt cap, side plate, trigger guard and ramrod pipe. Replaced wooden ramrod. Old repair to wood around lock.
Mid 19th Century Percussion Blunderbuss by “Golden”17 1/2 inch, steel barrel flaring towards the muzzle. Traces of spring bayonet absent. The long tang still retains its locking catch. Back action lock plate with scroll engraving and maker “C Golden”. Percussion hammer with matching engraving (top spur absent). Polished woodwork. Steel butt plate, trigger guard and ramrod pipe. Horn end cap.
A SILVER-GILT PLAQUETTE, PROBABLY DUTCH, SECOND HALF 19TH CENTURY oval, finely chased in relief after a print of Jacob Jordaens painting below its title 'Soo D'oude Songen Soo Pepen De Jongen' (As the old sing, so the young pipe), the broad rim chased with tulips and fruits interrupted by grotesque masks, French 'ET' mark and two indecipherable marks 29cm long, 354gr (11oz) Jacob Jordaens (1593-1678) painted a number of versions based on this moralistic proverb; the earliest from 1638, preserved in the Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten, Antwerp, inv.no.67, was widely reproduced as a print, hence the transposed figures on this plaquette.

A GEORGE III SILVER-GILT-MOUNTED MEERSCHAUM PIPE, JOSEPH ASH, LONDON, 1808 the mounts with borders of overlapping discs and beading, further decorated with a variety of bright-cut engraving, the hinged wind-cap with Greek key to the sides, the top pierced with ovals surrounding a roundel with stylised foliage between, the stem mount with scroll foliate and vermiculated bands, plain bulbous L-shaped meerschaum bowl, with double chain to the perhaps associated long stem of turned horn with a corded section below the mouthpiece, stem probably German or Austrian late 19th century 73cm long overall

Pair of late 19th century Copeland Aesthetic period period tiles / panels painted with medieval-clothed music makers, the first showing seated figures singing from sheet music, with impressed Copeland mark and sticker labels verso, the other showing pipe and string instrument players, in wooden frame, the loose tile measuring 42cm x 21cm. A line of seven graduated mixed cut citrines, all claw set in yellow collets to a ribbon, grain set with graduated brilliant cut and eight cut diamonds.
