Rare instrument to study sound, two original brass coaxial sirens.A rare late 19th century instrument for the study of sound, with its two original brass coaxial Dove sirens, disks that rotate at high speed. Original glass face, gears and switches. Original very delicate measuring needle. Original wood base. As air flowed through a series of holes via a large pipe in the base of the siren, a distinct tone was produced, allowing the sound frequency to be determined by reading the dials on the front.
