An English or North European sculpted softwood figural tobacco jar, 19th century, modelled as a rotund gentleman smoking a pipe, standing on a circular base carved with cobblestones, with hinged opening to the midriff, 35cm high Condition Report: The jar bears the usual minor marks, knocks and scuffs overall consistent with age and use. The wood has a pleasantly variegated patina.There are two or three areas of repair to the brim of the hat, as well as two smaller sections to the midriff above the aperture.There is some radial movement to the cover.Condition Report Disclaimer
