A rare Victorian silver and enamel vesta case of rounded rectangular form with flat hinged lid and attached suspension ring, the face enamelled with a bottle of pale ale, a half-filled glass and a pipe beneath the legend "Old Friends" by George Unite, Birmingham 1894. Condition report: Good all round condition, but has minor surface scratches throughout.
Michela de Vito (Italian, fl. early 19th Century) A woman in the traditional costume from the Albanian colony of Villa Badessa, Province of Teramo, Kingdom of Naples; with a Neapolitan 'lazzarone' smoking a pipe gouaches (2) 18 x 14cm (7 x 5in) Other Notes: Michela De Vito was most likely the daughter of Camillo De Vito, a prolific gouache painter active in Naples in the early 19th century. Both of them are renowned for their fine rendering of regional costumes as well as their depictions of scenes from everyday life in Naples.
A Victorian silver Royal Navy bosun's whistle by George Unite, Birmingham 1873, the barrel shaped buoy bearing the Royal Naval crown and anchor, engraved keel with vacant cartouche, suspension ring and mounted pipe gun. Length 9cm (3 1/2in), 14g teeth marks to the pipe and slight dings to the buoy. Whistle in working order.

Some damage to grip under pommel

Pitting to barrel. Bruising to stock. Lacks sling swivels, saddle bar and ring.
A carved wooden pipe rack recovered from the timbers of the WWI armed merchant cruiser RMS Carmania:, inscribed 'SS Carmania Sunk Cap. Trafalgar - 14 Sept 1914' 27cm long.*Notes- Built by John Brown & Co for the Cunard Line RMS Carmania was converted to an armed cruiser at the outbreak of WWI. During the Battle of Trindade she engaged and sunk the German merchant cruiser SMS Cap Trafalgar who at the time had been altered in appearance to resemble the Carmania. In 1919 RMS Carmania retuned to liner service and was re fitted , in 1932 she was sold and scrapped at Blyth.
