A rare collection of original 1930's German press photographs depicting the unofficial visit of Edward VIII to Germany in 1937. The collection of six 5x7" black and white gelatin print photographs depicting various 'official' photographs of Edward and Wallis Simpson both prior and during their 1937 visit to Nazi Germany. Of particular interest are two images taken during the visit - one in particular appears to be an 'unseen' photograph which depicts ' The Duke Of Windsor Visits The Office Of Public Welfare ' shows Edward VIII talking to a Nazi officer whilst various officials follow behind. The other photograph from the visit depicts Edward VIII outside a mine in the lower Rhine area performing a ' Nazi Salute ' with various officials. Other photographs all depict single shots of Edward and Wallis Simpson from official photographs, likely used to publicise their visit. All photographs carry official German press stamps to verso, some having printed captions stuck beneath. Some other non-related German press photographs are included (see photos). A rare and interesting collection.
