The letter has a note at the bottom "This is a loyal loss dicto her husband / Thaddeus Stevens". 8-1/4" high x 5" wide. Pontefract from Polish pacifist friends with deep appreciation of her work in Poland, Warsaw 5/7 1930' with twelve signatures below, Each 23cm x 61cm, Each framed and glazed (2)Note: The signatories were members of the Women?s Political Club (in Polish: Klub Polityczny Kobiet Post?powych), a Polish women's organisation founded in 1919 to encourage women to use the new political rights and equality granted in the constitution of the new Polish state. The club was active both in Poland and internationally, highlighting social, political and gender equality issues. The club celebrated its 10th anniversary in 1930, and it was possibly on this occasion that these prints were given to Jane Pontefract. The signatories are regarded as feminist pioneers, including the first female senator, journalists, writers, social activists, and one of the first female medical doctors.
