jacot a Paris, a Gorge cased carriage clock the eight-day duration movement, with platform lever escapement, striking the hours and half-hours on a gong with push button repeat, the backplate stamped with the Jacot trademark and serial number 13553, the white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, Arabic five minute numerals, typical Jacot inner ring and with blued steel spade hands (damaged), the Gorge case with five ribbed handle and repeat serial number to the base, with original numbered key, height 12cm (handle down) 14cm (handle up) * Henri Jacot was one of the most well known and best makers of carriage clocks in the Victorian period with an address at 31, Rue de Montmorency, Paris. The first Henri Jacot died in 1868 and was succeeded by his nephew also Henri. They won many medals at exhibitions in both Paris and London including the Gold medal in 1900.

drocourt, Paris, an engraved Anglaise carriage clock the eight-day duration movement having a platform lever escapement and striking the hours and half hours on a gong with push button repeat, the backplate stamped with the Drocourt trademark and serial number 14591, the white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, blued steel moon hands and engraved mask, the Anglaise case fully engraved with c-scroll decoration including to the shaped handle, complete with numbered leather travelling box, height 15cm (handle down) 18.5cm (handle up) * Pierre & Alfred Drocourt were one of the top makers of carriage clocks in the mid to late Victorian period, having a factory at Saint-Nicolas-d’Ailermont, the most important town for carriage clock manufacture at the time, as well as premises in Paris at Rue Debelleyme 28 and Rue de Limoges. They made superb carriage clocks which were often decorative and were awarded numerous medals at exhibitions, such as the Bronze Medal at Paris 1867, the Silver at Paris 1878 and the gold at Paris in 1889. The son, Alfred, succeeded his father Pierre sometime in the 1870’s.
charles Frodsham & Co, Paris, a small quarter striking Gorge carriage clock the eight-day duration movement having a platform lever escapement and striking the hours and quarters on two gongs with push button repeat, with a ‘strike/silent’ lever to the underside of the case, the backplate signed ‘Frodsham, 19797’, the white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, blued steel spade hands and signed ‘Charles Frodsham, & Co, Paris, 19797’, with a lacquered brass Gorge case, height 10.5cm (handle down) 12.5cm (handle up) * Charles Frodsham, born on the 15th of April 1810, was the son of William Frodsham, see lot 655, and was apprenticed to his father for seven years. In 1834 he set up his own business making precision timekeepers. In 1854 the firm was granted the Royal Warrant and made keeper of Her Majesty’s clocks. He acquired a number of prestigious clock making firms including that of J.R Arnold of 84, Strand.
