A large late 19th century French gilt brass cased repeating carriage clock white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, minute track, outer Arabic minutes and blued steel hands, eight two train movement with passing strike on a coiled gong, compensated balance, backplate numbered 8787, engine turned mask bearing presentation plaque 'Presented with other articles to the Revd F.F. Starbuck. M.A. by the Parishioners of the Parish Church of Deal. On his leaving the curacy of that parish. May 1881, four glass gorge case with inspection top in a fitted leather travel caseheight with handle upright. 22.5cm., case height 17cm.Condition:Winds ticks and runs however no guarantee can be offered as to the full working order of this clock. The repeat and striking function need servicing. Winding key present. SOme rubbing to oxidation to case. Travel case with loss and scuffing to leather, particularly to top. A RARE AND UNUSUAL FRENCH ENGRAVED GILT-BRASS BELL STRIKING CARRIAGE CLOCK WITH PUSH REPEAT ON A GONG AND ALARMBy Charles Oudin, 52 Palais Royal, circa 1855And incorporating an ébauche for quarter-repeating, signed Breguet à ParisThe Corniche case with engraved side panels and back door, with shuttered winding apertures, engraved all over with scrolls and foliage, enamel dial with ‘Breguet’ moon hands and alarm subsidiary, platform escapement with club tooth lever, the push repeat activating on a watch ebauche signed Breguet a Paris, with gong mounted between the dial and front plate, striking the hours on a bell mounted on the backplate and the alarm sounded on a bell in the underside of the base, together with its original leather travelling case18cm highCharles Oudin trained under the greatest watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet in the late 18th century in Paris. Establishing his own business at the turn of the century, he supplied clocks and watches of the highest quality. Occasionally referencing the great master, his work is sometimes found with his signature and then an homage élève de Breguet. The two firms evidently continued a close relationship, as found here, with Oudin using the push/repeat work of a Breguet watch to incorporate into this top-end engraved carriage clock.Together with a leather travelling case.The clock appears to have been recently restored and the case regilded, the movement cleaned and oiled. It ticks and the repeat and alarm function.

The clock is in good condition. The strike and repeat functions, and the clock ticks.

There is a part hallmark to the foldover handle

A Brass Grande Sonnerie Alarm Carriage Clock, signed Soldano, circa 1890, case with carrying handle and repeat button, Corinthian capped columns, underside of the base with selection lever for grande sonnerie/silent/petite sonnerie, alarm dial, dial surrounding mask with floral and scroll engraving, twin barrel movement with a silvered platform lever escapement, sonnerie and alarm striking on two blued steel gongs, movement backplate stamped Soldano and numbered 877820.5cm high over handleCase glass panels look all complete with no damage, enamel dials are clean, movement needs cleaning, platform escapement is discoloured, movement is fully wound and not working, needs a service.
Great Eastern Railway 12 inch teak cased English fusee railway clock supplied to the railway circa 1890. The case with a one piece turned convex surround, spun brass bezel, one side door and a bottom door which is missing, the case retains its green baize lining to the front of the back box and is branded GER four times The dial has been repainted post 1960 by the British Rail clock workshops at Doncaster with Arabic numerals and is lettered BR 5501. The brass chain driven movement has rectangular plates which are stamped GER and although dirty is working well. The LNER clock records show that this clock as being last in use at Highgate Carriage & Wagon Department Mess Room and a copy accompanies the clock. Complete and in working condition with pendulum and key.
